My Storyboard head aches.

Post by Kevin164 »

I've been slaving over two things I love the most lately, my family and this story board. I just did a major edit on it and changed the dialogue. I'm going to go through about six more of those before 2010 when I'm hoping to have it finished for professional review. I've never done a story board in my life but I'm giving it a shot. Hell I just restarted drawing again in 2007; I put down my pens in 2001 and called it quits.

Any ways I just ran it through the carousel option on my site and It turned out better than I thought. I need to tighten the dialogue, but so far so good.

If you have a moment please give it a look and I would ask three things.

1. Do you like pacing? If not why?
2. Do you like character? Are they interesting.
3. Do you understand what's going on? If not please describe what got you lost.

Believe me this will never get made into a movie. I see it like a CGI animation flick if some miracle happens. It's mostly for my portfolio when I hit the job market. I like KWatchers and their insights, so why not ask it of them? *cringes*

Click the link for a couple minutes of your life being wasted that you'll never get back. Don't say I didn't warn you. Make sure to use the SLIDE SHOW option in the lower left hand corner for a full effect of the story board that I have completed so far. Just it moves really fast so be ready.

I don't feel qualified to critique the pacing, but I can confidently tell you that your storyboards are the most elaborate and finished I've ever seen, bar none.

My idea of a storyboard is a sequence of very rough B&W sketches. Put the dialogue in balloons and yours are virtually a finished comic.

Extremely nice work, Kevin. I'd be ashamed to link you to my comic after seeing this.

D-S is right, this is much more than a story board.
The artwork is very cool...is it a mix of hand and digital work?
Nit pick---the default speed is too fast for the longer sentence frames, can't both read the whole line AND appreciate the art. [which isn't a problem if you intend to show it on paper, not as a slideshow]
Sig-man, Libtard, Stupid piece of shit. change your text color to brown. Mr. Reliable, bullshit-slinging liarFucker-user.
the difference between evidence and sources: whether they come from the horse's mouth or a horse's ass.
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

It is a mix of hand drawing with digital coloring from photoshop. Thank you for the compliments. I've been working pretty hard on it.

May I have your permission to post your link in a forum I moderate at another board?

It's called the Artistic Area forum at Gamewinners.com.

Well, that was damn cool!
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise

Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

Added a couple new panels since the last post. This one is the money shot as they say. I got this image in my head and the whole story unfolded in one afternoon while at work.
Needless to say seeing a giant Robot goto town on the U-craft from Alien in my mind's eye was wholly fun.

Well the view count on this post seems to always be climbing every time I visit this forum.

Just to give everyone an update on the project. It's stalled.

A couple reasons. One my wife's grandmother passed and second she spent near a week cleaning our computer out, while reformatting it with a host of new storage devices and other cool shit. I swear I'm looking at a constellation in the corner of the house when I turn off the lights and look at her work. Unfortunately the side effect was the scanner is down for bit until we can set up the secondary laptop.

Though not one to sit on my ass, I've been working on the backgrounds of the panels, so when I can get rolling it will only be the color treatment of the characters left to work on. So a glut of new work will hit all at once when I'm back up and running.

I have one new SRD work. It's basically Linden confronting the horde of Sandgorgons from the second series pending as well. So something for KW's Album in the future .

Updated the AVT with 9 new panels on my site. Did them all last night and this morning. Glad to have my scanner back. Also the new SRD Sandgorgon image has been uploaded to the Kevin's Watch album.

Crickets. I keep hearing that song "dancing by yourself" LOL.

So do you guys like the last couple of panels? I hate having to slow down the pace, but I need to establish the female lead and eventually the villain with this segment. Then shit hits the fan from there till the end.

Okay 403 views. Wierd someone keeps checking this post and it isn't me... well that not that often.

Made it to the 200 panel mark today. I'm sitting on two complete sequences just haven't had the time to color them yet. Slowly crawling there.
