The Hangover

Post by Harbinger »

Best lewd comedy I've seen in YEARS!! Highly recommend this one. The whole audience was laughing non stop. It's actually a clever movie as well. Everyone was smiling on the way out.

I've been wondering about this one. The new breed of comedies are hit-and-miss. Loved Step Brothers and Role Models, thought Wedding Crashers and Superbad were good for one viewing only.

If a pal asked me to go, I'd see it again on the big screen.

EDIT: Cail, if you don't love this movie, I'll personally refund your ticket.

I'll take that as an endorsement.

I'm off to see it tonight. :)
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

The word 'funny' does not do this film justice. Excellent dialogue.

Trailers are hardly ever representative of a film's quality. This movie has Zach Galifianakis. I'd give it a second chance!

The whole audience was laughing throughout Napoleon Dynamite when I saw that too, but I just had the feeling it was such a one note movie, the equivalent of 1 1/2 hours of one Saturday Night Live sketch. I'm with Cail and CovJr. on this one, but some of my favorite movies and tv shows have looked like crap from the ads, so I'll probably give it a fair shake down the road.

I didn't see Napoleon Dynamite at the theater, but I found that movie improves with each viewing. It's a movie that takes a while to "get." I didn't think it very funny at first, but after seeing it a couple times (the kids loved it, so I was forced), it grows on you and becomes quite funny. I call it "creeper comedy." (And no, I don't mean it takes some good creeper bud to make it funny, but that never hurts. :) )

I don't watch trailers. The hangover is the first rated R movie in history to hit $100 million in sales in ten days. Sex and The City was the previous record holder at 11 days. Also it has staying power. 152 million in 17 days. It must have some appeal because it has no star power.

I saw this again last night. A group wanted to go. Oh wel. God damn, it is a funny movie. I guess you're either the type of person who has waked up to find a fucked up situation that you didn't understand or you're not. I had a mini "the hangover" moment this am. The shower curtain and rod are in the floor of my hotel bathroom and I have no clue how it happened. Also, I know I didn't puke, but there's puke in the bathroom. Hmm, a puzzle to solve.

EDIT: There's also two large holes in the walls where the rod used to be and puke on one of the beds, and most of a twelve pack of a beer I would not have purchased. I'm going to get another room at a different hotel so I can take a shower. Unfortunately, I prepaid for a week at this one because they gave me a suite for only $10 more per night. I wonder how much the shower curtain rod's gonna cost me. At least I didn't find a tiger in there.

Saw this movie this afternoon. I thought it was decent but not uproariously funny like I expected it to be. It was fun and certainly an entertaing two hours but I was let down because of all the positive reviews I'd been hearing. If 40 Year Old Virgin was a "9" I'd give The Hangover a solid "6.5". Better than average but not superior.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. I loved it and would see it again in a second.

But I love lewd, raunchy comedies, so there's that.
