Man that is good. You've captured a lot of realism there.
I'd never seen what SRD looked like untill a FR book signing.
I always pictured him to look like David Cronenberg. But now I can see that Covenant looks strangely like Mr.Donaldson himself.
This however is in no way a critisism on your pic.

I like how gaunt he looks. You should try doing it with a beard now
Linden should have quailed. His certainty was as bitter as the touch of a Raver: it should have defeated her. But it did not. How often had she heard Lord Foul or his servants prophesy destruction, attempting to impose despair? And how often had Thomas Covenant shown her that it was possible to stand upright under the weight of utter hopelessness?

You can judge the true character of a person on how they treat those who can do nothing for them

I think that almost exactly matches my image of Covenant. The only thing I perceive as different would be his eyes. You have them 'brighter' than I see them in my mind. Very impressive!
Covenant turned in time to see a short figure detach itself from the burning mud, step queasily onto the hard ground.
The figure was scarcely taller than the skest, and shaped like them, a misborn child without eyes or any other features. But it was made of mud. Flames flickered over it as it climbed from the fire, then died away, leaving a dull brown creature like a sculpture poorly wrought in clay. Reddish pockets embedded in its form glowed dully.

Yes, very good. But I think he needs some gray in the hair. I also always pictured his hair a bit shaggy, as he probably didn't go into town for haircuts much.

I think of Covenant's haircuts as being of the self-inflicted variety.deer of the dawn wrote:Yes, very good. But I think he needs some gray in the hair. I also always pictured his hair a bit shaggy, as he probably didn't go into town for haircuts much.

Covenant was a young man in the First Chrons, right? So he wouldn't have gray hair yet if you're looking at the early days. Does it say anywhere what color his hair was? I don't remember that. I do remember on more than one occasion comments being made about his gray eyes though. I always pictured him as having light brown hair and a more pale complexion. He was a writer, so he didn't spend a lot of tme in the sun, I'd say. Some things are described in vivid detail, but Covenant somehow is left somewhat vague in his appearance. Anyone notice that?

I think you will find that most of the characters have a very vague
descriptions or are described in a way that indicates their personality
for example
". . . [he] had a crooked, humane mouth . . . between his perilous eyes and kind mouth, the square blade of his nose mediated like a rudder . . ."
LFB, pg 210-211
"The attacker was a young man with a powerful frame and dark hair . . ."
LFB, pg 106

HE was so all-fired determined to shave his beard all the time, which means if his beard was growing, so was his hair. So how did he explain going back to his real world with short hair after it grew out for several months in the Land? He always explained that he had to shave his beard in order to be like he was when he left. So why not his haircut? I know that hair grows about half an inch each month. So in six months, he'd look like Mick Jagger at least. But only in the Land??? BH got me thinking with his super-cool avatar.......with SHORT hair that didn't grow like his beard. I think I said this before in another thread......sorry. Less than 16 months to AATE!!!! Still hate that title.....

I think you did especially well with the outraged "I can't believe this, not AGAIN" look in his eyes.. and the tense, determined set to his jaw/chin. (more evident in the picture that is sans beard)

They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.

I thought both the bearded and beardless images were remarkable. Quite close to how I imagined him, though I confess I see his eyebrows a bit more concerned and his mouth more sour.
But the facial structure? Spot-on, especially the cheeks and eyes.
Any chance of seeing a full-body render (with clothes, obviously)? I don't know the amount of work it takes to create one of these models, so I can't speak to difficulty.
As for the fabled white tee, wasn't that what he was wearing in the Wounded Land?
