Opinions of Fast Food joints (good and bad and favorites)
(Disclaimer, I don't eat a lot of fast food but I do love fountain soda so I will always stop [once a day maybe] into a Burger King for a big soda)
McDonalds:
McDonalds changed the whole setup of their ordering process. Apparently they thought that fast service was passe and decided that only having one register open during lunch time and having lines out the door is the smart thing to do. And what's with the double "order here' at drive through? If that speeds up anything I've never seen it.
The "burgers" are gross. Could they put any more pepper on them? What rancid taste are they trying to hide?
I hate McDonalds ever since they got rid of the whole "Super Size" thing.
They did it to keep people from getting fat.
Thanks alot a$$holes I only supersized my diet Coke!
Wendy's:
There's a Wendy's by my work so go there more and more.
Mainly get a baked potato.
It fills me up all day.
Occasionally I'll get a double stack for a buck if I'm really hungry.
Wendy's burgers at least taste like hamburger.
But what the heck is a Frosty? Ice cream or a shake? I don't think they even know.
Burger King.
Heh. Basic food.
Not dislikes or likes.
They do have large drinks though....

Okay. Don't want to shock anyone now - everyone take a seat - but, where I live....NO fastfood joints. Nearest ones (Mickey D's, Jack's, KFC) are about an hours drive away.
I know, I know...that such a place should still exist in the world...

Favorites"
Burgers:
Wendy's Double with Cheese
at least it's still griddle cooked
instead of nuked like McD's or BK
Steak and Shake Double with Cheese is good to, but I prefer eating at the counter over a Takhomeasak.
Chicken:
Popeye's spicy all dark
side of red beans and rice
Subs:
Publix Boars Head Honey Maple Turkey double meat
foot long on wholegrain, scooped please, with all the fixings and cut into quarters
(generally two meals there)
Fish:
When I can find one, Arthur Treachers
otherwise, Long John Silvers does in a pinch
so long as I get my malt vinegar for both the fish and chips!
Gyros:
Local place called Gyro Plus, although I wish they had lamb souvlaki. But, the gyros are good.
Pizza:
For delivery or pick up: Five Star Pizza
Dine-In (but then not really "fast food"): Another local joint, called Nero's.
Anything else:
Miami Subs, again whenever I am near one.
If I can't find any of those, I generally pass on "fast food" altogether.

With the exception of the very rare (like once a year) foray into Popeye's, I'd rather fellate a hobo than eat fast food.

from what I see your location is the Hills of Andelain. I would suggest a quick trip to Melenkurion Skyweir for a nice toasted kresh kabob and an earthblood latte.Earthfriend wrote:Okay. I'm beginning to suspect that like StevieG, Earthy's "Earth" location is in "not Andelain."lorin wrote:from what I see your location is the Hills of Andelain. A little town called Yanakie, which consist of a town hall and a general store. It's just north of Wilson's Promontory in Victoria. I look out my window and see hills and fields, rolling down to the sea, with the Prom rising from the water in the foreground, all mountainy and majestic like...it's about as close to Andelain as I can get, lol.
Iorin, LOL.
And Menolly - what an impressive list! Which reminds me, there is a chain of restaurants called 'Nandos' that I like, when I get the chance. And Taco Bills is deliciously disgusting.

Oh, and I don't mind the fries at HJ's either...
Apart from that there's a great Asian take away near us, food comes fast, does that count? Thai green chicken curry is sensational.
Earthfriend you're just a hop, skip and jump (or big, nasty swim across a dangerous strait...) from me! And don't get Menolly started on Andelain (I made a false claim once...

damn if that doesn't sound more and more like "not" Andelain to me.Earthfriend wrote:A little town called Yanakie, which consist of a town hall and a general store. But, as I said to StevieG in another thread several months ago, this is Andelain...

Valles Caldera, outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
As pohotographed by wayfriend during the 2007 elohimfest.
The gentle rolling hills, the plains for the wraiths to dance...
...and SRD's home isn't far away.
Plus Andelain is not on a sea.

Too late...StevieG wrote:Earthfriend you're just a hop, skip and jump (or big, nasty swim across a dangerous strait...) from me! And don't get Menolly started on Andelain (I made a false claim once...)

not a big fan of fast food, but it is a HUGE fan of my hips. Used to like the Wendys salad bar but its gone now.
KFC has returned the rotisserie chicken, now called grilled chicken and it is excellent! only problem is the sides still suck.
the only other place i LOVE is Boston Market. Just cant afford it. Everything at Boston Market is great, including the sides.

From time to time, I crave McDonalds. It's not nice and I don't enjoy it, but something in it (presumably the chemical composition) gives me cravings.
BK isn't bad - certainly a step up from McD.
KFC is ok. A bit greasy and unlike chicken for my tastes, but I can eat it.
Subway has one thing I like (meatballs) but I find it quite stodgy. I feel bloated afterwards, even if I haven't eaten much.
That's about it for major fast food chains in the UK, unless you count Pizza Hut (which I don't). The rest are pretty much all little independent little places. Kebab shops and the like (kebabs being our version of what you lot call gyros). I'm not really a fan of kebabs unless I've been drinking beer. Beer makes me want kebabs.
I suppose you could consider fish and chips junk food. It's certainly greasy enough. When fish and chips is done well, it's great. When it's done badly, it's revolting. I seldom eat it either way, since I'm trying to be more conscious of what I consume.
To me, that's far too arid to be Andelain. It looks like it's in the middle of a drought.

I forgot about Boston Market.

I used to really like Kenny Rogers Roasters as well when they were commonly found.
And thanks to aliantha, magickmaker, and danlo for introducing me to them, I am developing an appreciation for Chipotle. Although the local bodega, La Tienda Latina gets more of my business on a regular basis. I love the lengua (beef tongue) tacos!!

I tend to eat more at hot dog stands than at the chains, but of the chains.
I like McDonald's breakfast menu better than their burgers, though their new angus burger is ok.
Burger King's burgers are better than McDonalds, but their breakfast menu stinks. No wonder they advertised burgers for breakfast.
I was never a big fan of Wendys.
I won't eat at Taco Bell anymore, and it's been years since I've eaten at an Arby's.
KFC is ok, but Popeye's is better.

My memory of it is much more lush than how the photograph translated it; definitely greener than what is shown there. But the panoramic shot does show the actual geography, the shape of the land, to match my concept of Andelain.
