Movie suggestions for the next Elohimfest

Post by danlo »

If we stick to tradition and have our 3rd Elohimfest in June after AATE is released, what movie should we watch next time?
E-fest '04: Monty Python and the Holy Grail
E-fest '07: The Princess Bride

I watched a good part of The Princess Bride yesterday, and what a great movie it is! "Have fun storming the castle!"

Looking forward to it, but in the spirit of Danlo's viewing:

"Do you think they'll make it?"
"It would take a miracle..."

May I suggest "What's Up, Doc?" with Barbara Streisand, Ryan O'Neill, Madeline Kahn, et al? No this is not a Bugs Bunny cartoon, but one of the great screwball comedies of all time. A favorite.

Rocky Horror would be okay, but only if danlo and Tam would let us bring toilet paper, squirt guns and toast into the "theater". ;)

I'd like to nominate "Young Frankenstein" (and would be happy to bring the DVD).

Somebody gave me a free pass to RHPS, but it started at 10:30 in the theater next door to where I was working and I didn't get off till 11:00. I went to the movie anyway and everyone was reciting the lines and singing. I yelled, "Shut up, I'm trying to watch the movie!" I noticed that the audience was dressed in weird costumes and then they all yelled back to me, "VIRGIN!!!" having no idea what was going on I walked out in a huff. I've been traumatized ever since.

Dude, the movie sucks. The fun is the blend of live theater and movie. And singing, of course.

Isn't that enough? Music, live theatre and singing your lungs out? I know I need more music in my life.

Absolutely it is enough. I used to go to Rocky about every weekend (it was about the only thing to do in Wichita that was reliably fun in my high school, early college years. That was before I could get into bars.

danlo, my ex-husband had the same reaction the first time he saw it, and he was there from the start of the movie... ;)

I have vague memories of being 18 and going to a university orientation week party and drinking far too much and then going into the uni cinema to watch Rocky Horror... OHHHHHH, the horror! ;)

I'd put my hands on my hips, and pelvic thrust to Rocky.

Sorry danlo, but tradition is the June before.

I always enjoy RHPS, and I've only ever seen it at home, even alone. It's just a riot!

I think Blazing Saddles and Airplane are good choices. But Arthur is my favorite.
