Until the official release (in October) of Against All Things Ending, all discussion of the novel past the Chapter One teaser chapter must be discussed here. If you're just speculating about what *might* happen (that is: if you have *not* read an advanced readers copy of AATE) you may speculate in other threads in this forum. HOWEVER if you have read past Chapter 1 of AATE you must talk about it here and only here.

Please be warned if you read this thread you WILL come across spoilers from the ENTIRE novel of Against All Things Ending! That is: it contains spoilers from chapter 1 to chapter 24 = THE ENTIRE NOVEL

Ok. So I am up to page 96!!

Big surprises - A new Insequent!! Reminds me of that corpulent lord in the first chronicles ... was it Hyrim that loved food?

Cool to see that Covenent is active! I was afraid he would be like Jeremiah - non-responsive!! But he is not.

And Linden given the white gold ring and staff to the Harrow!! wow!! That happened fast!!

I stopped reading right before the Harrow takes them to find Jeremiah ... I want to savor the story ... since it will be 6 months before I get to read it again! And then 3 years before the last book!!

So far I am enjoying the dialogue ... and look forward to seeing action!

OMG! The Harrow is dead!!

And a new immortal She Who Must Not Be Named ... a peer to Lord Foul?!

It feels like she might be a shadow of Joan if the Despiser is a Shadow of Covenant. Much to contemplate.

And the restoration of the car by Esmer feels like Findail's restoration of Vain's arm.

I am at the point where the Ardent has found out that Esmer's presence blocks his ability ... the party will need another way out of the Lost Deep! Fun stuff!!

So Bro: what did you think of that first chapter? Don't you think it ABSOLUTELY AND UTTERLY rocks? I think it's some of the finest writing that SRD has ever done. Absolute magic! :D

Not sure whether it was Hyrim who loved food. In fact, I didn't even make any connections between the Ardent and any other character in the Chronicles. I really like him--especially his ribbands!

The scene when the Harrow dies: I remember the first time I read that and how Roger punches a hole through his chest and WOW (!!!) how I *felt* that. Took me a long time to get over his death. Don't think I have actually. The Harrow was a character that I loved to hate (I've always had a crush on him!)....but when he was gone I was quite shocked. Totally unexpected.

I *never* thought of She Who Must Not Be Named as being a "shadow" of Joan if Foul is a shadow of Covenant. Interesting observation. I'll have to think about that one.

And so you're still stuck in the Lost Deep eh. Hang on, the ride has only just begun! ;) :biggrin:

And, gosh!: It's *so* good to be able to talk to someone about all this! :D

BTW, did Steve understand that people will accuse him of using a Harry Potterism with "She who must not be named"?!

I think it's much too late to introduce a new immortal. Also, the only way the Elohim will allow an Insequent to posses White Gold is if he can convince them he can rock the Worm to sleep with it.
