Mmmmm.........Yes! (I was going to ask Iarocca, whether you meant pysically, ideologically, emotionaly or what - but then I realised that Abe seemed a pretty good fit on all counts so - pop - the answer was there, no need for the question.

I was thinking of the tortured soul aspect, but then it occurred to me that, just like your email says, all aspects. Right down to tall and gaunt. Freak out.

Nah, I never met Honest Abe personally, but that's okay because I never met Thomas Covenant personally either.

Perhaps it was a consequence of coming across the Chronicles in the early 1980s, but I've always had this mental image of Covenant as being a bit like David Byrne from Talking Heads.

I just looked at some photos of David Byrne. That could work.

Maybe we'll turn this into a "if it ever becomes a movie..." type thread. John Carradine isn't still alive, is he? (I know about David -- I live in Thailand.)

Almost, but actually, it would be perfect for Trell, Mhoram and the Close, IMHO.

I think a full blown RoD would need a more dark music track

I can't reconcile Thomas Covenant with an American.. I know that he lives there, but I prefer to think of him as someone I like and respect.

Seems like a lot of people think so. I mean, look at who people want to play the part of Thomas Covenant in a movie! None other then a British guy (Hugh Laurie) who can do an American accent if he has to.
