Remarkably, I think Hile Troy's appearance is completely undescribed, except for his apparel and his sunglasses.
I think the key to Hile Troy is that he is NOT physically powerful, nor does he have significant gravitas to his presence. He's a math nerd promoted to general. He looks as much out of his depths as he actually is. (A beardless Jeremy Davies comes the closest to my mind.)
Someone once had an avatar that reminded me of Hile Troy every time I saw it. It was Sunbaneglasses' previous avatar, I think. It had a young man with black hair wearing sunglasses in a very red place. In The One Tree was wrote:This individual was dressed like a warrior, with high, soft-soled boots over black leggings, a black sleeveless shirt under a breastplate molded of a yellow metal, and a yellow headband; but on his breastplate were the double black diagonal marks which distinguished him as the Warmark, the commander of the Wayward, the Lords' army.

Ahhhh, I see...After reading many of the posts about Troy, the most logical explanation in my view are the sunglasses. Maybe subconsciously that's what happened.Menolly wrote:An interesting thread in the First and Second Chrons forum, greg.
Hile Troy as an African American?
For me, I have only known one other "Hile" and he immediately came to mind so I never had that thought. I also always thought of the Bloodguard as more Native American. One, because of the facial features (flat face/nose) Bannor going over to help with the Ranyhyn after and I guess because of the way they carried themselves, proud, fit, oaths, etc, etc,
As I said, your "mind's Eye" sees differently than others. It would appear for lack of development on SRD's part, we are free to interpret him as each of our "Mind's Eye" sees him.

It's your interpretation, but I have always imagined the "double black diagonal marks which distinguished him as the Warmark" to be parallel rather than crossing. // rather than X. Nor do they have to span the entire breadth of the breastplate - they are insignia, like a soldiers' stripes on his shoulders, and might be only a handwidth high/wide.marineguy wrote:Nothing like putting a "X" marks the spot on the leader.

HI Way,
It makes it easier to track one image at a time because I don't even keep the last one. The software allows me to modify the existing one.
In the beginning when I first started out I had 10-12 different images of one render. When you have 50 or 50 images that got pretty crazy to manage not to mention space.
Even designing networks, I do the same thing and present only the newest modifications.
