What songs really move you?

There are SO many! What's your latest favourite moving, heart-wrenching, uplifting, brilliant, light-hearted, heavy, soft, wonderful, brutal, epic, quirky, timeless etc etc song??
I could go on for EVER in a thread like this! Feel free to explain why you love your song so much, but that isn't necessary if you don't feel like it.
I'll start with David Bowie's
Life on Mars. The thing I love about this song is a really really don't know why I love it so much! I can't explain it, it just brings an outpouring of emotion from me. Maybe it's the chord progression - I just don't know.
Life on Mars?

Must be
Kettering by The Antlers. The haunting mood that builds to a shattering crescendo is just transcendant. The music sits so well with the lyrics which tell the tale of a hospice worker (at Sloane-Kettering Cancer) who falls in love with his terminal cancer patient. For anyone who has ever lost someone they loved dearly, put this on moderately loud in a darkened room and let all your remorse and regret just fall out of you.
P.S.
The link I give doesn't do the crescendo justice as it slightly mutes the volume. On the album, the crescendo leaps from the speakers.

Vivid memories of singing, in tears, along with this one: "and I open my eyes to look around, and I see a child laid slain on the ground."
"Oh Sweet Nothing" by the Velvet Underground
This may be the reason why Sterling Morrison is one of my guitar heroes!

way way too many to list, but there are two that, for no particular conscious reason, get me every single time:
"Zombie" [Cranberries]
"Little Earthquakes" [Amos]

His are indeed inspiring, I'm guessing here: "here comes the sun," "something," and "While my guitar gently weeps." No?
"Isn't it a pity" is my favorite of his solo stuff.
Galaxie 500 does a marvelous cover of it.
For that matter, listen to
strange by Galaxie 500! Incredible.

What used to be known as "side 2" of Yes'
Going for the One. Both songs must be played together, in the order on the album, for them to affect me as much.
Wondrous Stories/
Awaken Part 1 -
Awaken Part 2
Otherwise, I have always been moved by George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue for Piano and Orchestra.

"Question" by the Moody Blues is probably the most inspirational, moving piece of music I ever heard on "rock radio."
90% of the music they played was garbage, and I even thought so at the time.

That is a great song
But to contribute to this thread, I'd say:
There's
Redshift by Keldian...
And somehow, this
stupid Spanish Pop Song.

Glad you enjoyed it. The acoustics of you-tube don't do it justice.

I also really like that song. I'll have to get the original and hear it on some good speakers...
Wow, I've got some listening to do! Lord Z, prolific! There are many Syd Barrett songs that are heartbreaking - I was just listening to a few the other day...

Ashes to Ashes by Bowie has always had a major effect on my life for many reasons
(aside from the fact my real name's Tom) but the only song that, for some reason, made me stop in my tracks and cry my eyes out was
Birds.

Have you checked out the lyrics? If you haven't, listen to the song while reading the lyrics.

Uplifting:
Parabol/Parabola- Tool
Sunshine of Your Love- Cream
Don't Stop Me Now- Queen
Down Buzz:
Hurt- Nine Inch Nails (especially the lines "you are someone else/I am still right here)
Settle for Nothing- RATM
Every time I hear "Hurt" I struggle not to cry.
