Elvis sang REM songs

D......................
sitting in the dark
A.......................
wishing for a smoke
G.........................D....
trying for the punchline
A.....................D.....
a half-forgotten joke

Bmin......................
Elvis sang REM songs
G...........................
Elvis sang REM songs
A.......D......
to the world

(and so forth, for the rest. Hardly original and I don't know my music theory enough to explain it any more than those are guitar chords in green, it's probably 4/4, and a slow strum! But seeing as no-one else was replying...!)

Vegas was his calling
Memphis held him fast
the sweetest memories
are always in the past

Elvis sang REM songs
Elvis sang REM songs
to the world

Colonel knew his value
Jessie missed him most
now they hold conventions
dressed up as his ghost

Elvis sang REM songs
Elvis sang REM songs
to the world

Semper Fi -
and chicken bones!

stork needed crane
no weak sister -
chemo, chemo
chameleon and
Peter pan - a sense,
a cycle, a rerun,
reunion of the top
notch Muffin Man
gather, gather
rose colored swagger
teapot - full bore,
bolt action, mad
swarm /repeat/

--------------------------------------

fire, protocol, water

I don't care for
running faucets

fire - protocol - water

I still use some
wooden matches

fire - protocol - water

----------------------------------------------

invisible kafka

now is the time
& the time is now (x5)

invisible kafka
he has kung fu action grip

invisible kafka

takes off in his rocket ship

won't spark or rebound -
making it safe to use...
virtually anywhere.

-----------------------------------------------

cerium, chromium, cobalt, copper
gallium, gold, iron, lead
manganese, mercury, nickle, platinum

fear snakes, close doors

lines crossed
arms crossed
fingers crossed
double crossed

electrical storms
electrical lines,
darkened skies
surge of mayhem

hired wired and
cross checked
double checked
double redundancy

----------------------------------

the True Book of Moon, Sun and Stars

the moon looks bigger
than the stars
the little one is a
moon
hold a penny close
to your eye
the moon is like
a mirror
they thought the firs
made it bright
the stars we see
are burning
down points to the
middle of the earth
if they had eyes
like mine they could
see the stars, too

-----------------------------------------

red brick - first impression

why?

all i ever did, all i ever
wanted - why would you?

all i ever said, all i ever
trusted - how could you?

all i ever had, all i ever
needed - why would you?

what did i do to you (x3)
--------------------------------------------------

Red Brick (the second time around)

I've tasted bitter copper -
salt. spent the night on
the floor - hating you for
every car that passed. Red
brick - cold night - I passed
time growing old - growing
scared - just a word - any
reason why - hating your
for showing me weak...

( a song)

the room is cold
but not as cold
as the low, empty bed
we left behind
and I want to
burn
burn
burn
burn it all down

I'm feeling old
but not as old
as the low, empty grave
we left behind
and I want to
burn
burn
burn
burn it all down.

---------------------------------------

and this
contain
within

sunset your bones
downward east
beside your wayside
from otherwise

----------------------------------------

could you love me?

lemonade stands for
those who refuse to
drink the koolade

antiquarian ironmongers

drop needle slight crackle,
hums. swamp rooted in
static - a swell montage,
grey monotone. a shimmer,
a jangle. delayed repeat...
runs deep echoes, relay -
reverb. plod and stumble.
pale monotone, mumbles
halfsteps, stutters. deeper
than shallow hollow rudiments.
empty words, phrases, clauses.
grey monotone - soap box
derbies. random poetry
generator. polliwogs, whirl-a-gigs.
salt cellars, pepper-boxes...
pale momotone. magnesium bursts -
slight wobble - curious rag and
bone men. golliwogs. sorrow fills
the dredge over by the sledge...
deep in the woods, hoax / joke.
squibs / bolts. chimney sweeps,
asleep but still not dreaming...
pale monotone - hushed response.
