I've made an IP address change that might impact KW as the DNS propagates through the ether.

For you non-geeks...I did something that might cause KW to disappear for a short while any time from now to the next day or so so if it goes bye-bye, don't stress - it will be back :)

Is that wise?
To take down the Watch the night before the Rapture?
You might cause a panic.
Because to me, when the Watch is down, it is the....... END OF THE WORLD......!

I'd like that if only to see if Mallory posts are a positive or negative in God's eyes.

That's great, it starts with Mallorys, Comics and the Tank,

Any chance you will play in Apathetic Octopus if they decide to do a cover of this?

No problem, Sarge. I have CDs of audiobooks of the Pern series, but have never taken the time to listen to them. So, my pronunciation may be totally not how McCaffrey pronounces it, but is how I hear it in my head:

It wouldn't surprise me if you and Linna both say it closer to McCaffrey's pronunciation. But again, right now I have no idea what that is. I have heard others say it "MEN-oh-ly." But until the first time I heard someone say that, decades after I first read the books, I never heard it that way myself.

Hmmm...

I admit I was one who formerly pronounced it with the accent on the first syllable. Then the family and I met her in RL (a year ago tomorrow...) and learned that how she said her Watch name.

I too have no idea how McCaffrey pronounced the name of the character she invented...but doesn't the Watcher have the right to stipulate how she pronounces the name she has chosen for herself, even if it differs from how all others pronounce it?

My RL surname is constantly mispronounced by those who do not know me, because it looks to them to be the same as another name they are used to saying. Do I give in and accept that pronunciation? Absolutely not. I pronounce it the way my father and his father (and so on) have always pronounced it.
