Karma, tell us what you sent/received today!

Post by Cameraman Jenn »

Tell us what karma you sent out and/or received today, good or bad. I'll start...

I started my work shift with a good laugh shared with several co-workers in which we all added to the amusement and benefitted from it. Later in the day I helped a handicapped guy who was in a wheelchair by bringing him the options of the product he was interested in since he had trouble getting down the crowded aisle in his wheelchair. After that I had both California Pizza Kitchen's manager and a Starbuck's crew member refuse to let me pay for my dinner and my drink. I tipped anyway. I feel like today was a good karma day in my world.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Sounds like a tough question.

i recieved a job (home depot pro) where i have to smile a lot and greet people and help them (cust svc is BIG philosphy at HDP) and so i've been practicing on the street on my way to and from work, just walking with my head up and making eye contact with those that pass me on the street and smiling and saying good morning, etc and guess what! people smile back if you smile at them!! and the day laborers that wait for jobs outside the home depot, THEY all smile at me and say good morning and when they come in to the store with the guys that have hired them they all come right to whatever register i'm on and smile and cut up with me. and you know those guys are sooo used to being passed by as tho they don't even exist and it makes my day when they smile and say good morning when they see me.
it's just a smile. it don't cost nuthin. but you get so much back for it. :D

Welcome to the wonderful world of retail, Lucimay. A lot of the time you will find yourself smiling for realz but once in a while you will find yourself smiling around clenched teeth. Luckily that happens less than the genuine smiles if you start your day with a laugh. Sorus and I got to share several earlier today. I had a customer give me a free sample of his throat lozenges... made from 40mgs of THC. We opened the package and it was stinky and the warning label said that if you didn't know how you would react to the medication you should only eat half and wait an hour before eating the other half. Too funny. I did have a lot of nice customers today so it was a pretty good day despite being pretty busy after about ten o'clock rolled around.

OH, by the way, Lucimay, don't check the apologies to avatar thread whatever you do or you might be mad at me.... 8O

I was really awful to my fellow human beings today. I would definitely be deep in the minus (aka "deep doo-doo") for today!!!
You don't actually expect people to tell all the awful things they've done on this thread though, right?

I rocked out today. That is, I played guitar and led praise-and-worship singing with a couple hundred teens. It's always so awesome to play with a good band, and to get the young people's focus off of themselves (their bad skin, why that guy didn't say hello, how will they get into that college, that their mom hates them or dad lost his job or whatever) and get them clapping hands and enjoying life. Plus I love getting some of them involved in actually playing and singing, because they are the next generation who will be leading in 15 years...

(Off-topic, I remember realizing that my generation had entered the Establishment when I was put on hold, and the music was the Grateful Dead!)

I used to do this, until someone cut me for smiling at them.

I'm kidding. I've done this all my life, and I usually can tell something from the people that don't return the favor. For example, at my first computery job that I had, we had a new CEO start. I didn't know he was the new CEO, so I did the same as I did with every new person I saw in the building - I smiled and said hi. He always kept looking straight ahead and said nothing, not even making eye contact. When I found out he was the new CEO, I already knew he was jerk. He ended nearly trashing the company, and his stupid business decisions caused half the company to be laid off. And me. Putz.

I try not to come out from under my rock lately. Is there karma in making sure your family is well-fed and safe? That's about all I can manage. :/

Let me think... keeping your family well-fed and safe when it's really really hard and you don't even want to come out from under a rock... can be... where do I think it rates?

Hmmm. I think it rates as..........

AWESOME!!!!!!!

Okay, I did it. I donated my WGD to my adopted twin sister. Now, I'm hoping for good karma for the rest of the day please. I have a phone interview after work today, and I could use it.

I used to do this, I called it 'sunny circles'. Must get back in the habit.

I went the extra mile for a bunch of customers and today one of them dropped off a glowing letter about me to my boss Kin.

I'm sending good energy to my Cagbro for his job interview.

SWEET! I almost forgot to mention that I got to see Igor today. He came in and so I got big hugs and we got to catch up a bit and I am working on a really cool but difficult project for him at work. I'm trying to clean up building blueprints printed from microfiche that was copied back in the sixties from the hand drawn blueprints that were created when the building was constructed in 1920. I've deducted quite a bit of the original information but some of it is just lost.

Well, somehow the karma thing didn't work. I never received a phone call. I wrote back to the guy who set this up, and he is going to try to reschedule it. Ugh....all that stress for nothing. VERY annoyed.
