I eventually made it
through the book but it was a rough
couple of weeks. A few years later I
saw the movie based on the novel
and it was hilarious...

Slugs are usually made from metals
differing from those of real coins. While
genuine coins in the United States
currency are made from various alloys
of copper, nickel, and zinc, Canadian
coins are made mostly from steel with
some copper and nickel, and Euro coins
are made from steel, nickel, and brass,
slugs are frequently made from differing
metals and alloys that are cheaper to
obtain and mold, such as aluminum,
tin, and lead.

Nonviolent resistance
(or nonviolent action) is the practice of
achieving goals through symbolic protests,
civil disobedience, economic or political
noncooperation, and other methods,
without using violence. It is largely
synonymous with civil resistance. Each
of these terms ("nonviolent resistance"
and "civil resistance") has its distinct merits
and also slightly different connotations,
which are briefly explored in the entry on
civil resistance.

Well now, one winter it was
so cold that all the geese flew backward and
all the fish moved south and even the snow
turned blue. Late at night, it got so frigid that
all spoken words froze solid afore they could
be heard. People had to wait until sunup to
find out what folks were talking about the night before.

Paul Bunyan went out walking in the woods
one day during that Winter of the Blue Snow.
He was knee-deep in blue snow when he heard
a funny sound between a bleat and a snort.
Looking down, he saw a teeny-tiny baby blue
ox jest a hopping about in the snow and snorting
with rage on account of he was too short to see
over the drifts.

Paul Bunyan laughed when he saw the spunky
little critter and took the little blue mite home
with him. He warmed the little ox up by the fire
and the little fellow fluffed up and dried out, but
he remained as blue as the snow that had stained
him in the first place. So Paul named him
Babe the Blue Ox.

unlikely, extravagant, and improbable
situations, disguise and mistaken identity,
verbal humour of varying degrees of sophistication,
which may include word play, and a fast-paced plot
whose speed usually increases, culminating in an
ending which often involves an elaborate chase scene.

"Big" John Wallace was a bassist
and backup singer for singer-songwriter
Harry Chapin. John gained membership
to Harry's band by responding to an ad
placed in the Village Voice in 1971.
Other responders to the ad include cellist
Tim Scott and guitarist Ron Palmer.

When Harry Chapin and his brothers went
on tour in 1971, Harry asked Wallace to
continue with his backing band as bass
guitarist and backup vocalist. John Wallace
performed with Harry for ten years -
throughout the 1970s, until Harry's death.
In live concerts, Wallace would sing very
high head tones on songs such as "Taxi".
However, John displayed a remarkable
vocal range, as he also sang the baritone
parts in "Mr. Tanner" and "30,000 Pounds
of Bananas".

Freedom is but an empty
illusion when one class of men can starve
another with impunity. Equality is but an empty
illusion when the rich, through monopolies, have
the decision of life or death over their own kind.
The Republic is but an empty illusion when the
counterrevolution takes place daily because
three-quarters of the citizenry cannot afford
the price of basic foodstuffs and no one sheds a tear.

Stopping trade which is nothing short of highway
robbery must be clearly distinguished from simple
commerce. It will only be by placing the cost of
food within reach of the sans-culottes that you
will win them over to Revolution and its
constitutional laws.

The style of art pioneered by the Dada
artists lives on today. Dadaists
were the first to make collages and montages
, for example, using materials, photographs and pictures
to create a patchwork of images.
Duchamp invented the concept
of the "readymade," using and modifying
everyday, non-art objects into pieces of art,
as he did with "Fountain." Tracey Emin's "My Bed,"
an exhibit that literally takes the form
of the artist's unmade bed, provides
a famous modern example of this genre.

An axial flow pump, or AFP,
is a common type of pump that
essentially consists of a propeller
in a pipe. The propeller can be
driven directly by a sealed motor
in the pipe or mounted to the
pipe from the outside or by a
right-angle drive shaft that
pierces the pipe.

The main advantage of an AFP
is that it can easily be adjusted
to run at peak efficiency at
low-flow/high-pressure and
high-flow/low-pressure by
changing the pitch on the
propeller (some models only).

These pumps have the
smallest of the dimensions
among many of the conventional
pumps and are more suited
for low heads and higher discharges.

Paint by number (or painting by numbers)
describes kits having a board on which
light blue or grey lines indicate areas to paint,
each area having a number and a corresponding
numbered paint to use.

Alarmed by the sudden explosion and fish-tailing of the car, my eight-year old body sat straight up. From this position, I clearly watched as my mother firmly gripped the steering wheel, got control of the car and pulled us over to the side of the highway. I distinctively recall thinking, “Oh, I guess that wasn’t anything to be afraid of.” This experience taught me to remain calm under pressure, assess the situation and take the best course of action.

Male

I, _____, take you, ______, to be my wedded wife.
With deepest joy I receive you into my life that
together we may be one. As is Christ to His body,
the church, so I will be to you a loving and faithful
husband. Always will I perform my headship over
you even as Christ does over me, knowing that
His Lordship is one of the holiest desires for my
life. I promise you my deepest love, my fullest
devotion, my tenderest care. I promise I will live
first unto God rather than others or even you.
I promise that I will lead our lives into a life of
faith and hope in Christ Jesus. Ever honoring
God's guidance by His spirit through the Word,
And so throughout life, no matter what may
lie ahead of us, I pledge to you my life as
a loving and faithful husband.

Female

I, _____, take you, ______, to be my wedded husband.
With deepest joy I come into my new life with you.
As you have pledged to me your life and love, so
I too happily give you my life, and in confidence
submit myself to your headship as to the Lord.
As is the church in her relationship to Christ,
so I will be to you. _____, I will live first unto
our God and then unto you, loving you, obeying
you, caring for you and ever seeking to please you.
God has prepared me for you and so I will ever
strengthen, help, comfort, and encourage you.
Therefore, throughout life, no matter what may
be ahead of us, I pledge to you my life as an
obedient and faithful wife.
