What's your most prized possession?

Post by Worm of Despite »

No, not the kids. Nice try, though! I'm talking about inanimate objects--material stuff. For me, it's my collection of music. Ah, it just soars through my soul like nothing else. Rob me of all I am, down to the last ribbon of my personage. As long as you don't take my music, I'll still be smiling.

Friedrich Nietzsche

Then again, Nietzsche could be totally wrong about music:

"There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself."
Johannes Sebastian Bach

It's not very original but I would say my books, without them I'm truly lost!

My brother's tapes, art and journals are my prized possessions. If anything ever happened to them, I would be lost.

And just as important...all my memories and keepsakes of my family, photos, videos, poems, artwork, "hand and foot" plasters of my kids...etc. That kind of stuff is priceless to me. :)
And I believe in you

Probably really personal stuff, like the pictures of my children as babies, the first clothing my children wore...pictures of myself and my husband as children...things that would mean nothing to others, but are priceless and irreplaceable to me... 8)

My bigscreen HDTV which allows me to watch the NFL, Red Sox and Bruins in beautiful, glorious high definition!
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. I suppose if I have to choose something nigh irreplaceable I'd have to say my comic collection. :-)

On a materialistic level, my iPod. I can carry my music collection wherever I go. Although, my new HDTV (only 30 inches Brinn, but I didn't want a big screen ;) ) comes close. :)

I have a multitude of small items, which by looking at them you wouldn't think would mean a lot, but bring back memories to me. For example, on my computer desk is a red white and blue ribbon that states "North Chicago VA Says Thank You Veterans". It belonged to a friend of mine, a WWII vet, who died three years ago.

I don't care for possessions, they tie you down. God provides us with everything we need, to covet more is a sin.

My stone collection. Not too different from a rock collection but different enough.

I've collected smallish, unique stones from every place I've ever been to, and plan to make something out of them one day.

My wife doesn't quite understand and thinks they're just rocks :)
