She Who Must Not

Post by Frostheart Grueburn »

Tentatively posting art again, thanks to all the silliness in the Mallory's... :hide:

Painted this largely from memory and/or based on first impressions. Personally found SWMNBN (She-Voldie?) the creepiest being of the third chrons.

I like your vision better than mine.
I always imagine her as something with more like the Blob from the old 50's movies (when it got really big).

Nice one, brony. The mouth of the cave is a good touch, too.

That's pretty awesome. Really, really awesome.

I particularly like the way you've added your own flourishes to Donaldson's descriptions, in the way you've portrayed the womens' faces. This makes it seem more real, to me, than Donaldson's prose ever did. And that's a good thing.

Also, I can't help but notice that this is a different style than your Giants and Giantesses. There's no hint of a line drawing underneath the textures and colors.

Edit: I have to also say, this would have been better book jacket art for AATE than any stupid Harrow by any stupid Palencar!

Adding that I always imagined TC with a cuter butt. Every woman in the land throws herself at him, so I always thought it must be nice. :P Joking aside, it's great. Glad you got your infusion of fresh brains to eat and clawed your way from the grave. :D

This is really something o_O

Very different from my impression, and I admire how it can differ so much and be amazing in its own way. I'll hardly try to draw that one though, describing by words, She seemed to me rather lava-like and not like a vortex, but an attacking tidal wave or tsunami.

Remembered how we discussed similarly how Lord Foul may look) Imagination is an amazing thing.

Yes, yes, yes. A wonderful picture.

Hello, Eff! I'm sorry you didn't get a reply in the HDYF thread, how rude of me! No, no plans to disappear again for a good long while. :)

Thanks guys. :) Yeah, this one portrays a vortex, but I imagined her a kind of constantly shape-shifting creature, perhaps at one point flaring into flames or tidal waves and then morphing into something else. Slightly difficult to explain.

This board attracts odd creatures: sheep, zombie bronies, swedes that have a hate-love relationship with the hawt ur-vile in the middle of the wedge... :hide:

Define 'cute butt' and we'll see if something can be done about it in the future. :P I didn't particularly concentrate on that bit (also remember he's still clad in the horrible resurrected jeans that went through death, Mount Thunder, and oodles of sunbane terrors), but yeah, perhaps he must have some external charms, either posterior or frontal, to explain the attitude of the women. :P

I employ this style occasionally, but these days mainly with works that don't involve close-ups of human figures (I'm a horrible self-nitpicker when it comes to anatomical errors). Due to its superior color reproduction capabilities compared to a TFT screen, I use an old CRT for all digipainting, but unfortunately it also suffers from distortion. Here didn't have to care about that, however, as the faces twist and contort abnormally anyhow.

I thought the Harrow looked kinda cute... :hide: Personally, the Saruman cover of FR made me go sorta 'Whut?'

That should be possible--mainly have to search for a suitable freeware font, do some post-editing on the image and figure out how to get it printed. :) Either I'll email you a high-res copy you can print yourself or I'll have to see what options for instance the shop Vain setupped contains OR if I can find some third alternative. I'll be fairly busy with other commitments during the following fortnight or so, however, so this'll have to wait for a teensy bit.

The day when someone gets blamed for not mentioning something in the "How do you feel today?" thread will be a harsh and lacking mercy day indeed) Good to hear you're not going to disappear)

I didn't understand it was meant to be the Harrow at all, read about it and thought if whoever did that one tried to read at least a line about him.

Really awesome to hear you're seriously thinking about the book jacket idea) I think nobody here is going to tell you to hurry)

Tell me about that) Did you see what I've done about LF after all? kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21103

And, if you're taking suggestions, I'd really like to see what your portrayal of him may be like, your description when we discussed that seemed interesting. Of course, when you're not occupied with other drawing related things or anything else important.

I like this too. Could you try "Shall Pass Utterly"? That might go better.
I'm still a stickler for the original title. lol

Well, here's a limited-time, exclusive possibility to influence its cuteness. :P  Dug this monstrous mess--which incidentally also belongs in the AATE forum--out of the digital naphthalene, and it features his posterior prominently.

Also contains some very prototypical ur-viles, which are giving me a headache. Now that I look at it, it seems like one's quirkily interested in Grueburn's breastplate... Maybe it's the pervert of the wedge.

Yup, saw that and talked about it in some other thread...can't recall where anymore, though. I've had a small idea bunny bouncing round my head for a while (which, composition-wise, still appears too much like one version of LFB's covers), but haven't been able to scrape up the necessary inspiration yet. Should probably re-read the first chrons beforehand, and maaaybe get rid of this there's-not-enough-third-chrons-art-and-nobody-else-cares-about-the-poor-swordmainnir-something-must-be-done mood. :P

Custom titles should be possible too, once I get around editing this thingamajig. :)

WF, thanks for the cover idea!

Thats one firm butt he has there! Very good. And very muscular arms, too! The ur viles are pretty hawt as well. One seems to be staring into Covenant's croutch. They are so pervvy. Awesome picture as usual!
Edit. I really like the giant in the middle. She looks great.

:haha:
He may end up a bit thinner in the final version; at this point I haven't cleaned up the inking yet . Thanks!

That would be Cabledarm in the middle of the back row. Another character lacking almost all description, save that she brags to be the strongest of the group and contests this title with Grueburn. Gave her the face of a person I know in RL.
