Why do only bitter, sarcastic people.......

......get summoned to the Land? I don't think Thomas Covenant, Linden Avery or Hile Troy are who our government would have chosen to represent them on foreign soil, much less alien soil. I can't help but wondering if a real charismatic go-getter like Arnold Schwartzenegger, Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford went to the Land. The only downside I can see is that Foul's butt would have been so sincerely kicked by page 50 of the first book, the Chronicles would have been only story #5 in Daughter of Regals.

The best part would have been when he pulled Foul out of his bunker and shined a flashlight in his mouth.... :screwy:

Foul would have had a field day with someone not already acquainted with habit and despair. They would have broke, and Foul would be free.

"Foul, I've had enough of your meanacity. Your reign of terra is over. Don't mess with Texas...I mean Andelain."

Why does it not surprise me to see W among the top contenders so far?
