Stone antennas?

Post by Shuram Gudatetris »

I was thinking the other day about where in the Land people get summoned. Mount Thunder, Revelstone, Kevin's Watch. All high-reaching stone. I forget where Hile Troy was summoned to, but maybe if she had been on a mountain, things would have gone right? Anyhow, I was thinking that maybe being stoned and high had something to do with it.....

The area behind Haven Farm, where Covenant and Linden were summoned, was also on bare stone.

I think Troy was summoned in the upper plateau behind Revelstone. If so, it's hard to tell if rock was involved. Then again, not sure if it counts, as it was a summoning that didn't work right.

Could be you need a firm anchor to transport between worlds.

The land's rivers, maybe even Skywier and the Sunbirth Sea, could also maybe source a translation between the worlds.

Actually, I believe Troy was summoned from near Revelwood, as Atiaran was a student there.

As for using stone as an anchor for the "real world" end of summonses, both TC and Troy were summoned in TIW from positions where they clearly were not on stone. Cov was in his living room and Troy was hanging by finger-tip from his windowledge.

A window ledge is probably stone, but I hear ya. In TC's initial, summoning, he fell on pavement, right?
Spoiler
Isn't there a half crazed Unfettered who swears that stone holds all memories, but can't yet remember TC, as he's too "recent"? Maybe stone protects the Arch from the backlash induced by bringing in an outsider. That would also explain Atairan's death. Stabilization.
