Can I Mention This Here?

Post by starkllr »

I want to be a good Watcher and not break rules, so I'm asking...is it allowed for e to post about my own just-published novel here in the General forum (or in a more appropriate forum here)?

If no, I totally understand, if yes I 'll tell y'all all about it...

Tell away, you're not the first to post your publication news here. Congratulations!

I am reminded of the Groucho Marx quip "I was convulsed with laughter from the moment I picked up your book untill the moment I put it down - someday I intend reading it." but that would not be kind so seriously, congrats on getting the book published and tell all! Easy to find a publisher or years of frustrating rejection. Is this the masterwork into which you have poured your lifeblood (say a 3000 page epic spanning the period between the esablishment of St petersburg on the banks of the Volga to the fall of the Romanov dynesty) or a pot boiler knocked up on a boring Sunday afternoon because it was too wet to go out for a walk. Tell all and hold nothing back.

Peter, it's somewhere between those two extremes :)

I actually wrote the first draft 15 years ago, and it just sat there forever, and about this time last year, I picked it back up, start rewriting, and the next thing I knew, it had turned into a series of four books (which, taken all together probably are about as long as ONE of the Last Chronicles books!).

They're all about a young woman who thinks she's quite ordinary and wants nothing more than to finish college and get into medical school, until she learns that she can see into other people's dreams. Then things get very strange, and dangerous, for her...

Can we have the title and authors name Starkllr - I make no promises but if I'm in an airport bookshop oneday (or indeed on a Kindle or other piece of electronic wizardry) and happen to spot........

(really good luck with it by the way - green with envy at someone who has the staying power to see the thing through from start to finish. I've got about 50 first pages knocking around at home  )

He did post a topic about it after the positive response, you know. But then people kept replying to this one and pushed it down the forum page.

Peter, the name's James DiBenedetto, and the book is "Dream Student"

(links - my website - www.writingdreams.net and amazon page - www.amazon.com/J.J.-DiBenedetto/e/B00BW ... dp_epwbk_0)

It took me forever to actually get down to serious business - like I said above, it was 15 years from the first draft to last year when I revised the thing and got it into good enough shape to try and sell...
