well, it kicked ass

amazing flick, and they obviously had to leave out certain things, but they made up for it nicely...as i posted in another thread, they had to leave out the part with Saruman, and his meeting with Gandalf, and parts at the end, but...like i said, they made up for it nicely...the battles at Gondor and the black gates were awesome, as was to be expected...movie did not disappoint...well, ME, anyway...

pretty sad at parts, too...
Think on that, and be dismayed

It is well documented, in the annuls of this site, just how much i love these movies.
ROTK premiered here on Dec 26..... I did not get to see it until 25 Jan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is almost sacriligious.
To counter the sacrilege (sp) i watched it at a movie marathon that was screening the 3 movies back to back...... it was awesome. I was accompanied by my nearly 8 yo nephew who impressively enough stayed awake for the full 10 hours we were in the cinema ( the movies commenced at 9.00pm and ended 7.00am the next day)
Have seen it again since then and i expect to see it again a couple more time..... havent picked PJ out in any scenes yet.... and i heard a rumour that VIGGOS (sigh) son is in there somewhere too.
It was the climax of a 3 year dream for me but im somewhat saddened that there is nothing to look forward to next Christmas season... only the extended DVD.

Maybe one day we will see a movie version of The Hobbit come to our screens.....<sits with fingers crossed in half-hearted anticipation>

I may be wrong, but I thought I had seen PJ during the charge of the Rohirrim on the Fields of the Pelennor... it seemed to me he was playing a Rohan warrior, but I may be mistaken.

Oh and by the way, Infelice, at least you had the OPTION to go and see the movie since it premiered in December... it was only released here on January 22 :(

Never thought about it before, Infelice, but do you know that apart from its obvious SRD significance, your name means "unhappy" in Italian? :P

Yes .... I wonder if it was of any specific significance that SRD chose that name for the Queen of the Elohim.... What could she be unhappy about??

Not a topic for discussion in this thread tho ;)

OK, this has probably been posted elsewhere, point me to it if need be.

I waited awhile, but just saw ROTK a few days ago. I've been avoiding these threads for the obvious spoiler reasons.

I loved it. *But* one thing that I thought was just wrong:

Samwise leaving Frodo and climbing down Cirith Ungol because Frodo told him to.

I understand that it was important to realize Frodo was beginning to feel more akin to Gollum, but for Sam to willingly leave the quest; I didn't like it, and I don't see why it had to be done. To just up and leave? Sam?

Well, OK. :?

Otherwise, I loved it all. :)

I think Jackson was the Corsair captain who was seen very briefly on the ship.

Indeed. Justice at last.

Er, sorry, did I say that out loud?

I always new that he was a little ticked off. I mean, how is it that they can find a way to get Sean Bean into LOTR:ROTK, but not him?

Actor Christopher Lee has agreed to put aside his differences with Kiwi director Peter Jackson - but will never forgive him for axing his scenes from The Return of the King.
