A reason for Covenant to become Lord Foul

Post by Mighara Sovmadhi »

I always thought this to be a pretty strange thing SRD said about the Last Chronicles. Aren't these about people who redeem themselves, not people who decide at the last moment to start giving in not just to convenient sins, but something as extreme as transforming into Corruption himself? (I'm not sure what to make of Covenant's self-incrimination for killing Joan. Does he really think he shouldn't have killed her or something?)

But if the ring Linden's using is actually the Despiser's, and if Covenant needs the full power of white gold to save the Land, then maybe that's the point of Covenant "becoming Lord Foul" or whatever.

In order to learn to accept Covenant's death, will Linden have to kill him herself?

Looking back, TC sacrificing himself for Joan in TWL was incredibly pivotal in Linden's feelings about him throughout the following books. I'm interested to see how she reacts to him having killed her.
