It starts as a comedy populated by a psychotic family who resorts to violence to resolve all issues in their lives. The father, an ex mobster in witness protection, breaks the plumbers legs when he won't guarantee his work, drags an executive on the back of his truck when he won't stop using chemicals in the house water, the mother fire bombs a small grocery when the owner is snotty. And on and on.
The mobsters are looking for the father and when they find him, they send the most cliched gangster to kill him and his family. 10 three hundred pound men dressed in black, carrying machine guns come to the small French village and promptly kill everyone in the fire department, the police department and all the neighbors. Then they kill the FBI agents guarding them. The father and mother are rescued by son and daughter, who grab the gangsters machine guns and kill the mobsters.
Stupid, unnecessary violence, blood and brutality. In the end, the father (DeNiro) says that "all in all it was a good day and he is only upset they have to move again."
