Jeremiah

While listening to the audio version of TLD this morning, I started thinking about Jeremiah, and now I'm confused: what was the source of his detachment and abilities?

I thought it was similar to Linden's many instances of paralysis, but more permanent. It was a boy's way to shield himself from the horror of what was happening to him, and what he'd done, what he'd allowed to happen to him (and his sisters).

As for why this gives him power in the Land ... no clue. His talent was a special manifestation of Law. Structure. It's almost like he was a programmer in the Land's code, if you want to use an entirely inappropriate metaphor. He could take inherent structures of the Land, and use them in ways they weren't originally intended, because he was tapping directly into the programming language by which the Land world was built. Now, a good question might be why this wasn't a violation of Law, if malachite wasn't originally intended to shield Elohim (for instance). Is it just loopholes in Law, or a corruption of Law? Loophole is probably the best way to think of it ... another kind of mobius strip.

Yea..his talent came from his ability to seal himself off from the real world,,as if in his own revelstone made by himself..

The need for structure,,in any adolescents life is there as well..or maybe..the Want for structure...and as Linden and TC tried..give him structure..give him purpose, allow him to be of effect..

Perhaps Donaldson speaks of a natural need and when provided for ,the kid is naturally successful. ..?
If she withdrew from exaltation, she would be forced to think- And every thought led to fear and contradictions; to dilemmas for which she was unprepared.
