Thirty Years

Post by Eldritch »

In 1984 my, high school, library did a celebration of sci fi/fantasy authors. I picked up LFB, mostly because of the cover art, and devoured it over the weekend.

Had to wait a week for TIW to be returned. And that, as they say, was that!

Currently doing a re read as I'm telling a, censored, version to my son during our walks.

So, thirty years later, here I am. Read a lot of previous posts which confirmed a lot of my theories but have blown apart some others.

Hello Eldritch! :wave:

Welcome to the Watch.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Welcome to the Watch, Eldritch. I think the notion of telling the story to someone during walks is kind of interesting. Anyway, high school in 1984 gives you your "Eld" ... now I just have to guess if you're wealthy, or named after a king of England.

Or I'm just an ancient goth who named himself after the singer in The Sisters of Mercy....

To be truthful, it's easier teaching my son chess!

Sample conversation;

Me - Bannor was, the Bloodguard, assigned to guard Thomas.

Son - What's the 'Bloodguard'?

Me - Well the Bloodguard were an army who came to attack Revelstone but were 'persuaded' by Kevin to change their minds.

Son - Ah........

One minute later;

Son - You said that was the haruchai!

Welcome to the Watch, Eldritch!

Great handle, one of my favourite fantasy words, has uncanny and Elvish mixed up in it :lol:

Probably don't need to tell you what the Watch has to offer, still keep an eye on the Elohimfest thread, it's on June 21st 2014 in Albuquerque. Everyone is welcome and it may be the last one so, if you would like to attend don't be shy, we're a nice bunch, really! :biggrin:

When you've had your fill of SRD-related stuff check out the other forums (fora), you'll find music, literature, film, politics, cookery, games and so on. There's plenty to see and do and new voices and opinions are always welcome.

Be Welcome and True!

Let us discuss it, esteemed one. The melon can be interviewed in June, should such be deemed appropriate.
In any case, his hospitality certainly is like a drink from a mountain stream.

Welcome to the Watch, Eldritch!

May you thrive here...and contribute.
Indeed, you have already posted some thought-provoking bits about what might have been if some events had gone differently.

Greetings, Eldritch. Are there any of your friends or relatives below in the Lovecraftian game sub-forum?
I have many names... and may play many roles

So that it's clear: I'm not the Lord Foul who was on the Watch before, from 26.10.2002 to 16.06.2012

Welcome, Eldritch! I've been enjoying your posts these last few days, and can also appreciate that you have already contributed to the "Covenant Walks Into A Bar" thread (I haven't yet been able to think of a joke for that one). One thing I'm not sure of: did Shetra drink that diamondraught, or did Verement?

Anyway, when it comes to Donaldson's use of obscure English words, "eldritch" is the word I recall most often. So, good choice!
