Which of The New Lords do you most closely associate with?

Post by peter »

Well, there's not much point in denying it because you already know - I most closely resemble Hyrim, Son of Hoole so my position is fixed - Clan Hyrim.

Toward which Lord do you most naturally lean? {I don't mean 'who do you most like' - I mean 'who are you most like' [ and if the answer is genuimely Mhoram then say so.]}

As a reminder, here are the names from which to choose. Prothall, Osondrea, Mhoram, Variol, Tamarantha, Elena, Amatin, Verement, Shetra, Hyrim, Callindrill, Loerya and Trevor....

...... and finally, the Ur-Lord himself, Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever [take care in choosing this one!]

Ok - some of the Lords are not as well 'fleshed out' as others - but we do at least get a sense of what each of them is about and it should be enough to tell you to which 'clan' you rightfully belong.

Sometimes I can see myself being as angry as Verement or as Stalwart as Callindrill.. But then sometimes I feel as scared as Hyrim. I dont know.

 Alas I suspect this thread is going to die before it is born, but at least Rau le Creuset, you have saved me from the ignomy of 'the thread with no replies' - my thanks for this [I have had a few; It's a risk that goes hand in hand with being a consumate 'thread starter'].

Oddly - the idea for this thread came from another thread entitled something like 'how close are you in real life to your KW persona'. The idea here was not so much to see who people felt they were like [though clearly this is the first step in posting an answer], but to give other watchers a handle on the nature of a real person with whom they communicate daily through the medium of a screen. Example; Hyrim gells with me because that's essentially who I am. I'm a 'fool player', a self depreciater on the surface with a deeply serious core. In a few short words my essence is laid bare without it's trimmings by the simple act of pinning myself to one of the Lords.

definitely, SRD does well to sketch in strong-enough traits into each of the Lords so that we get a sense of who they are even if we don't spend much time with some of them.

Prothall - humble, reflective - he's almost devout in his adherence to the Oath and his pursuit of unlocking Kevin's lore - he has fortitude, but in other ways he also represents the weakness of the New Lords, his opening monologue at Vespers really shows how much he doubts himself and questions the work of the New Lords, and he is nearly at the end of his strength.

Osondrea - stern, competent and capable. My kinda High Lord.

Mhoram
- Mhoram's complex, SRD devotes quite a lot of time to Mhoram's development. Compassionate would be his strongest trait though I think, greater even than his capacity for great insight, which is rivaled only by Covenant himself.

Variol
- I must admit I barely got a sense of Variol beyond his tendency to doze in almost any situation ..

Tamarantha - a person of faith, with a mischievous streak. Spirited.

Elena - like Mhoram, Elena is pretty complex - but she is basically a damaged person.

Amatin - studious, logical, tenacious.

Verement - embittered.

Shetra - proud, conflicted.

Hyrim - Hyrim is well-drawn; his self-deprecation masks a passionate heart, and despite threatening to succumb to the Sarangrave and the horrifying scene at Seareach, he shows great resolve and is able to tap into inner resources of strength and power before his cruel end. One of my favourite characters in the chrons - Peter if you're anything like Hyrim then you'd be the kinda Lord I'd wanna hang with!

Callindrill - a serene, mellow guy, who at one point has Covenant over to his place in Revelstone for what was reportedly a lovely meal :)
but he is mighty too, Mhoram says :
"I would not care to be Callindrill's foe... he is strong."
He's a gentle guy though.

Loerya - the matriarch of Revelstone. Strong and opinionated.

Trevor - lacks confidence, seems a bit out of his depth.

I'll go with Trevor

 Massive thanks SleeplessOne - I had thought of sketching outlines myself but decided it would make the initial post too long. I could not have come close to your appraisals though and they sum up to a word my thoughts on each. Thanks again.

Callindrill is the lord that decided to stay in revelwood to give hell to the invaaders right? Even though he had his orders to retreat with his forces? Thats were I got the Stalwart from. Strong, Stubborn, Stalwart, Gentle.

Peter,

It's hard to get posts moving, I've never been able to make them proper. They die slow embarrassing deaths.

Definitely Elena. I have her tendency toward madness as well as a damaged past. I have her self destructive tendencies, as well as her passion.

We also share a name. I am Ellen, my hispanic friends call me Elena.

True, RLC, I'd actually forgotten about that scene - we only get a couple of tales of Callindrill's prowess, related 2nd-hand, but they hint at his capacity to wield Earthpower in a way that perhaps only Mhoram and Elena surpass.

As for slow-moving threads, I've chalked up plenty of 'donuts' in my time (i.e. 0 replies)! :?

One point SleeplessOne - it Just occured to me that the 'handle' on Variol *is* his tendancy to doze in any situation [in fact I think I may be moving from Clan Hyrim into Clan Variol a bit faster than I would like ;)]

Why is this thread in the Loresraat? Shouldn't it be in 1st & 2nd Chrons Discussion? Might get more traction there, too.
