Chapter 12ish of Last Dark
Just wondering what was the point of linden entering the caesure and going back in time to meet a forestall while Jeremiah "whiner" builds his jaded construct. Man that kid... Annoying. Maybe I didn't catch the grand scheme or point of it but all I can see is when the forestall came back with linden all he did was delay the worm. What am I missing? What was the point of that whole thing of her going back in time? I don't remember anything. Maybe he not only delayed the worm or turned its direction but also protected the Elohim construct? If just that I think it was kind of pointless. I have to be missing something and sorry if it's so obvious. I'm currently only on chapter 15 so no spoilers lol. Thanks!

One thing to consider is that they're honoring the Creator's purpose by keeping the Elohim alive in this world. Another reason is the Elohim may still have powers to restore something in the world if Foul can be stopped. Yet another reason is the world needs Forestals to preserve the full majesty of Earthpower on the Land's surface, and to restrict Foul's servants in their movements. Finally, Manethrall Mahrtiir REALLY needed a bigger job to do besides just giving sage advice every now and then.

You might also consider Jeremiah's fairy-castle-gate-thingy he constructed around the front door of Linden's house. If you remember Roger tore it down deliberately, or maybe he wrecked it bursting through the door - I don't recall exactly.
This also has connections with the Lost Deep, as does any number of things Jeremiah set his mind to with his race tracks and toy sports car - (last seen in the lintel of his construction of bones at Muirwin Delenoth).
I had an idea that this was Jeremiah's way of saying to the Elohim, "Hey, come live with us why don't you!".
But that's all I can think of at the moment. I too still have to read part II of The Last Dark.

Ok makes a bit more sense and I'll probably learn more as I am nearing the end. They just ran into other haruchai in mt thunder. So basically she brought a forestall because there were none left and maybe for forbidding since it wasn't taught to her. I dunno it just seemed he simply protected them while they evaded the worm and I thought perished in doing so. I guess he protected the construct to?

I felt like I remember Linden seeking a forestal either because of a promise she'd made upon receiving her new, upgraded staff, or because she had reason to believe they knew something needed nobody else in the land understood.
It's from tracing her earlier thought patterns... she is always thinking "forestal" and then mentally cringing. I haven't read as far as you guys.

when they all escape from the fane, Covenant asks if the stars can still be seen. The Giants look up and start chuckling as it's realized that the stars aren't disappearing--therefore the Elohim aren't dying anymore, therefore Caerwood-ur-Mahrtiiir is successfully blocking the Worm from Jeremiah's fane.
