All Is Lost

Post by peter »

Saw this sea survival (or not) gem last night. Starring Robert Redford as a man in dire straights following a yaughting accident in the Indian Ocean, the film has virtually no dialogue and only Redford is ever seen, but still the film manages to rack up a tension rarely achieved in modern cinema. Much of this is down to Redford's quiet ability to respond to his plight, but to simultaneously project a rising internal desperateness as his plight slowly worsens. Redford belies his 71 years in performing nearly all his own stunts and never drops a stitch in his portrayal as the capable man who the fates have decided they are going to test to destruction. See this one if you can!
President of Peace? You fucking idiots!

"I know what America is. America is a thing that you can move very easily. Move it in the right direction. They won't get in the way." (Benjamin Netenyahu 2001.)

....and the glory of the world becomes less than it was....
'Have we not served you well'
'Of course - you know you have.'
'Then let it end.'
