Electric Cars, plus.

Post by Vraith »

A HUGE long article, centers on Tesla and innovation, branches out and covers a lot of territory.
I like the guys style, have for a while, and interesting take/info/speculations.

The second link is a bit on Solar/electric besides cars---and it is short.

If the Tesla Model 3 is as good a car as the previous models, I am going to definitely make a long range plan for one of those.

I'll have to watch it later today. I will note, though, that if I had the money I would go out and buy a Tesla this weekend as tt is probably the best electric car on the market at this time.
The Tank is gone and now so am I.

The downside I see to electric vehicles is - actually! - the cost per mile.

Right now, the cost per mile for electricity is usually less than gasoline. However, where electricity is very expensive, like Hawaii, this might not be the case.

But future-wise, the more we move to electric vehicles, the less demand there will be for oil/gas, and the less it will cost. While the demand for electricity from the electric grid, which is notoriously hard to expand, will surely go up. The combination of greater demand with significant barriers to expansion is a bit worrisome.

Not when all costs are taken into account.
He answers all your doubts, mostly in part 3 of the article...and little-to-none of it is "pie in the sky" or "maybe someday."
For instance, the electric grid isn't really a problem.
It's happening now, it's happening fast---maybe faster than peeps expect.
