Hyperion

Post by wayfriend »

I know that there are lots of (okay, several) fans of Dan Simmons's Hyperion series hereabouts. So I thought that this might be interesting:

BOARDWALK EMPIRE Writer Itamar Moses Developing Dan Simmons’ Hugo-Winning Novel HYPERION For Syfy!!

Personally, I think that this could be awesome.

Yea, it has the potential I think. [though I'm a Simmons fan in general...except maybe for "Drood." Sometimes I'm ok with it, sometimes not.]

the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

Though I'm not familiar with the source material, I was under the impression (perhaps wrongly) that Syfy had pretty much given up developing anything more than inexpensively produced programming.

... so you're saying Hyperion might include flying megalodons... Yeah. There is that.

I thought that Hyperion would be done well because the biggest "tech" in the story is the portal technology, which doesn't seem hard to portray. But of course I am assuming a talented production.
