Atomic Blonde

Post by peter »

By the end of this (I believe) comic book adaption I was simply bored with seeing Charleze Theron batter and kill every (always make) antagonist that she came up against. Yes - we get it; we're all a bunch of bastards and women can kick our asses hands down any time they choose. The paper thin plot line ( that I can't make coherent no matter which way I turn it) is way to poor a vehicle for the talents of the actors involved and the lack of thought with which the whole caboose is slubbered up is patent in every dull frame. Women have had a raw deal at the hands of men since time immemorial and that needs to be addressed, but this gore filled fantasy payback is not the way to do it.

I wasn't expecting a lot out of it, and it pretty much met expectations. The long cut scene was pretty amazing, and I liked how quickly people tired and a few other touches that seemed more realistic than a lot of action movies. I liked it overall, although there really wasn't much to the plot.

I've now watched this movie twice, and I have to say that this is one of my favorite action films from the last several years. Great set pieces, engaging plot, good stuntwork and choreography, and a killer soundtrack.

Looking forward to the sequel.

I just borrowed it but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Looking forward to it, though.

I enjoyed some of this movie but not all of it. Charlize is very hot.The soundtrack had that safe or conservative edge of the radio mix from the times, but it served the movie well. Action sequences were pretty good..... did I mention that I liked seeing Charlize draped over lounges already?
I give it a solid 3 stars out of 5.
