Dusty Hill - Bassist for ZZ Top (RIP)

Post by SoulBiter »

Just saw this notification go out:

"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.”
You will be missed greatly, amigo.

Tres Hombres! Their early works are the best and I listen to them often! Everything after "Eliminator" was just "meh" to me.

I was gutted when I heard this news. They're still in my top three best bands I've seen live - it was that whole "we don't give a crap - we're just here to have a good time and play some kickass music" vibe.

SB, whereas I agree for the ZZ purists, Tres Hombres was a genuine high spot and I can understand some people's distaste for the over-produced and just too slick three 80s albums (Eliminator, Afterburner and Recycler) that broke them to a much wider MTV audience...

...there's still some very serious awesomeness to be found within at least Rhythmeen:-

...and La Futura:-

RIP Dusty Hill... end of an era... you'll be genuinely missed.
Newsflash: the word "irony" doesn't mean "a bit like iron"

Shockingly, some people have claimed that I'm egocentric... but hey, enough about them
