Tanith Lee

Post by Durris »

Any Tanith Lee fans here? I've read only a small subset of her output: the Dreams of Dark and Light short story collection, Companions on the Road/The Winter Players (two novellas bound in one volume), and the short story "Mirage and Magia", which would have won my undying respect even if she had never written anything else. (Mirrors play a crucial role, and the contrast with Mordant's Need is interesting.)

Further recommendations?

Durris, try the short story collection, Cyrion. Also the Birthgrave trilogy, The Birthgrave, Vazkor, Son of Vazkor and Quest for the White Witch. Also the stand-alone, The Storm Lord.

These are some of her older works. I also enjoyed Companions on the Road, by the way.

I have only read .. Vivia .. a vampire story .. interesting if not majorly weird ;)

the ending was totally screwy .. but there may have been a 2nd installment .. but i just havent come across it ..

Her writing was ok .. the story was interesting .. but it was a dark journey into significant weirdness!

I have read some Tanith Lee, but not very much.

You might find something on www.tanithlee.com if you want to check it out.

The Night's Master books are said to be okay. I have not read them myself.
