Favourite Dr Who story
Mine would have to be Inferno - it's got such a great concept, wonderful characters, and the 2nd last episode is disturbing. Another classic from the great Pertwee era. I also think Pyramids of Mars is a great great story, considering its great atmosphere and possibly one of the best villains in sci-fi history, Sutekh.
What do people think is the best Dr Who story?

Now it got tricky... there is at least 3 Dr Who-threads now... which one is the official one?
I would like this question to be posted in the "über-Dr-Who-thread" please
Which Dr Who-series would you recommend me to start with? Should I start at the beginning or should I start at the best episodes (if that is not the beginning that is)?

I'd recommend you start off with the beginning of the Perwee era - Spearhead from Space and continue on through the Baker and Davison eras.Ylva Kresh wrote:Now it got tricky... there is at least 3 Dr Who-threads now... which one is the official one?

I bloody love Dr Who, especially Baker-era. Does that make me a fool? Difficult to say a favourite. Will have to think on that a long while...
The reality is in this head. Mine. I'm the projector at the planetarium, all the closed little universe visible in the circle of that stage is coming out of my mouth, eyes, and sometimes other orifices also.

No, not a fool. Just have good taste. I personally love the Pertwee era. Got to meet him one night - a great, caring man.edinburghemma wrote:I bloody love Dr Who, especially Baker-era. Does that make me a fool? Difficult to say a favourite. Will have to think on that a long while...

DR. Who is great
Dr. Who is great all episodes are good, I would tend to agree with the previous posters saying Tom Baker era tend to be exceptional, but I have heard long term Who fans say you always like your first Dr. the best. And for most folks in US Tom Baker is their first Dr. Pyramids of Marsis very good series; however, the writing team that did that story did another excellent story from approximately the same era of broadcasts titled Talons of Weng-Chiang, and it has Lela of the servateem as the Dr.'s companion.
New Who episodes are coming soon.

For me, it'd have to be "The Five Doctors", even though only three Doctors and a substitute were actually in it. Which puts me in the same camp as Matrixman, as it was shown during the Davison era.
Not only did it have all my favorite villains but as a kid I just loved the idea of meeting "my other selves"...
