The Upright Citizen's Brigade
One of my favorite sketch comedies ever. I had the honor of watching it during its cable run in 1998, when I was in middle school. Back then, all the kids who were hip to it (most of the school), was re-enacting the "poo stick" sketch in the lunchroom. If you don't own the season 1 DVD, buy it. If you don't like Upright Citizen's Brigade, then I'm never talking to you again.

Realtor: This is the Hot Chicks Room. The breakfast table's just over this way...
Wife: Excuse me? What was that room again?
Realtor: Oh, this is the Hot Chicks Room. It's filled with assorted hot chicks, who party in here 24 hours a day. But you'd be more interested in the kitchen.
Wife: You know what? We're not going to need a sexy chicks room.
Realtor: Well, actually it's a Hot Chicks Room.
Wife: Well, whatever it is, we don't need it.
Husband: You said the same thing about the microwave, and we use that darned thing all the time.
[to realtor]
Husband: So, a Hot Chicks Room, huh?
Realtor: Yeah. The previous owner installed the room in the 80's, and I'll be honest with you, some of the chicks aren't all that hot anymore. However, they are replacable.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

At the risk of seeming ill mannered, I must second that yawn. Maybe it's an American humour thing. Just seems to me like someone trying really hard to do random absurdist humour and not really pulling it off. On the other hand, I don't often go for absurdist humour when it is done well. In fact, I'm the wrong person to comment on this. Disregard all the above.

You have to see it before you bash it.

Well, Monty Python was british humour. This is american humour. Americans tend to be very lax on the 'humour' part. Really only works if done the right way (some american humour can be quite good), otherwise it can be, well, not bad, but just so un-funny as to make me go "erm... what was the point of that?"

You yawn at the dear parrot bit? The Ministry of Funny Walks? "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay!" You're not the Grinch, are you?CovenantJr wrote:Well, other than the Holy Grail, yes.Lord Foul wrote:What next? Somebody yawning at Monty Python?
