I think a novellette is a bit shorter than a novella, and a bit longer than a short story. I don't know the exact word count definitions, though.

I have read three of the books, the Simmons, the Bujold, and the Sawyer. All three were very good reads. :) The Sawyer is the sequel (and middle book of a trilogy) of last year's Hugo winning novel, Hominids, which was also a very good read.
Of the three books I have read, I hope Dan Simmons's Ilium wins. 8)

Out of all of those, I've only read one of the books (Paladin of Souls - pretty good) and seen two of the films (28 Days Later - Very good, and X-Men 2 - fairly good)....
