Shawshank Redemption Gets Limited Re-Release!

Post by Old Darth »

According to a recent USA Today entertainment roundup by Mike Snider some of you lucky dogs are going to get a chance to see Shawshank Redemption on the big screen!

Talk about redemption. A film that quietly left theaters and then became a hit on home video, "The Shawshank Redemption," returns to theaters for a two-week run Sept. 24 in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Austin.

I'm currently querying to see if there are similar plans for Canada.

I may try to see this on the big screen. IMO this movie was one of the great movies of the 90s.

Yes I agree-a very good film indeed.
How did you find the Green Mile in comparison if you watched it?

The Green Mile was not quite as good but I still really enjoy it.

What gets me about SR is the twist - I don't read King so when Tim Robbins escaped with everything I was floored. I definitely did not see that coming. Even up to that part I enjoy the movie but when the Warden pulls back the Raquel Welch poster and we see the big hole in the wall - well, that does it for me.
