Enough talk of real life ... lets sepeculate ...

Post by ***Demondim*** »

Hey all ... first time on but i've been checkin the board out for a while ...

Now i know that the 3rd chorns are coming out soon and about 4 days after that happens we'll have all read the first one, we'll sit back with a contented look in our eyes like we've all eaten too much pie and then have nothing more to look forward to ... exept the next one which could be any time away ... so as the end of the wait draws nigh let's bleed our hearts and creative thinking on to "paper":

What do you think will happen?
What do you want to happen?
If you were SRD, which path would you take?

I'll kick this off:

We could have a little chat about the past: pre-old lords etc ... I really want to know more about the Demondim. Where are they from and why? Have the ur-viles always been raping and pillaging with the Waynihm doing the opposite? What were they up to before... so that'll be a history lesson for us all...

Things to come ... after reading the prologue, Rogers obviously looking dodgy ... he needs Joan for something ... how will this work? ... use her blood to get to the Land ... is he crazy or possessed like the guys who got their hands burned in 2nd chrons?

He gets to the land ...

Who has the Staff of Law and what new powers does it hold ... Linden reckoned it was "alive" unlike the last one, and added to Vain and Findalls properties, health, healing and perception ... what does this mean ... can this heal the Laws, (of Death, Life etc ...) or will there just be dead guys waltzing around like nothing really happened ...

Theres a million things to wonder about and reading this forum i'm the least qualified person to make guesses, but i enjoy the read ... So lets get to it ... what to YOU want to happen ... remember ... soon it will all be before you and you won't have the chance to let your thoughts run with the Ranyhyn ...

Hail and welcome to the Watch Demondim!! :welcome:

We've been asking those types of question since last year when the rumors were finally confirmed and we actually got snippets of the new Chrons. :D

There are several topics on Runes and speculations...I will see what I can do about bumping them up for you. :)

Right at the very top of this forum is the "News that sets SRD fans of fire!" thread. It has an excerpt from chp. 5 of the prologue from Runes, plus reactions and so forth... That's just the beginning!!! :D

Also, Chp 1 is up on SRD's official site

www.stephenrdonaldson.com

There is also in the "From the Author" section a category called "The Gradual Interview" which is where our favorite author himself has been gracious enough to answer all of our questions :D You can even ask him a few yourself...but not too many please, LOL!! We want him to stop answering and get to writing Revenant!! LOL!! ;)

Well met Demonidim!! May your days be long upon the Watch!
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

~fly fly little wing, fly where only angels sing~

~this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you~

...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

Hail and well-met ***Demondim***! :D

Correct me if I am wrong,
but are you suggesting that the members of Kevin's Watch
create our own version of the storyline?
Or backround of the people and the Land?
Or maybe both?

Interesting... 8)
Have you hugged your arghule today?

Yes Cheval!! ... I've seen the prologue and the comments made about chapter 5 ... (You guys have got everything you can get on this forum!!) but i reckon it i'd be fun to see what people would write if they were SRD ... i'm not trying to find out what will really happen ... that will come soon enough.

We've had years to fantasize and the hour of revelation is nearly upon us ... i'm sure everybody here has got an idea of what could happen ...

" ... The First and Pitchwife return from the bowels of mount thunder to find the Land of which they had heard in stories well told. Of course, the ravages of the Sunbane had not completly dissappeared from the Earth, the leperacy of the World could not heal in a day, [theres an interesting thought ... the Land became leperous ... leperosy cannot be healed ... is the land forever wounded? ... maybe this is Fouls perchase to return...] but there was something in the air that reassured the giants ... now to find Sunder and Hollian and present Vain and Findalls legacy to the new inheritors of the earth ... "

***X years later***

Sunder and Hollian, along with their son Mannite, have been prospering in Andelain and with the Staff of Law, have slowly been healing the wounds of the torn terrain and reuniting the forests of the Land. The Giants of the Search have returned to the land and now base themselves at Revelstone ... a fit home for Giants. Sunders embassy have been drawing together the people of the land and making way for new beginnings ... as most of the old stone and wood lore has been lost, Sunder and Hollian go about the teachings of Lindens legacy ... health, healing and sight. Their son being a child of life and death has a strange affinity with the Staff, and new Law is comunicated through him. As most of the Old Laws set up by Kevin have been broken, the focus is on the new, not the fixing of past riven Law.

Mannite teaches a world of unity. People are not masters of lore, rather a jack of all trades with common purpose [the land becomes communist?!]. This learnt from the secrets possesed by Vain, as one of the Demondim spawns creation, and now the very fibre of Law as contained in the Staff. The ur-Vile and Waynhim wisdom of collective power has been used to herald a new age of learning. Kevin is no longer revered, but Covenant takes his place as idol to the people. His example of belif and Unbelif have taught the people the importance of balance, not neccesarly 'Oath of Peace' type extremism. But despite is not bannished. The Demondim reappear and strive for there own balance, also having learnt from Covenant. They want to make perfect things in one shell and want it bad, although they are not consious of how bad they want it ... enter Raver ...

... and ...

The Waynhim return to strength to become closer to humans ...
A lone Ranyhyn returns to the land at the call of Mannite ...
We follow the Haruchai's return to there own land, [they were never from the Land were they?,] and meet a few Haruchai women, Exquisit beings of truth and love, to counter the male brusqueness and hard as stone facade.

*PHEW* ... Sorry, that was a bit of a tangent ... but i'd love to see what kind of a tangent someone else would take ... again, i don't think i've got the credentials yet to be telling any watchers whats going on... have fun!!

I always thought that Linden would be pregnant with Covenant's child. They never laid together in the "real"world ... but then how did she end up with his ring at the end of White Gold Wielder? (I don't want to restart THAT debate here - there are plenty of other existing threads for that) If the ring could make the jump from his hand to hers, why not a couple single cell critters? :-)

I envisioned that her child would grow to be in his or her teens, and then would find the ring in a jewelery box or something, and end up coming to the Land and having to put up with Covenant's legacy (either in a good or bad way). I never had much in mind about what they would be stuggling against this time - but with Giants in the Land again, a new Staff of Law, and another few millenia intervening, there was a lot of room to develop something.
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Although I wouldn't want them to leave the land on a permanent basis, it would be nice if the Giants could find their way home!
