Niven forum

Post by Edinburghemma »

So, we have an Anne McCaffrey forum, that damsel of the dragons and even J.K. Rowling. Would anyone be interested in a Larry Niven one? His early works are screaming for dissections and I scoured the web and cannot find a site that has one. What do you think?...Anyone...

If you build it, they will come (umm, maybe ;) ). Well, I will, anyway. I'll read some Niven for the cause.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Hurrah, so where do I begin...
The reality is in this head. Mine. I'm the projector at the planetarium, all the closed little universe visible in the circle of that stage is coming out of my mouth, eyes, and sometimes other orifices also.

I nearly bought that at a book fair, but when I picked it up, it appeared to be the most tedious book since Lord of the Rings ;)

Perhaps you read the Goat in Todd's Eye. ;)

Hmmm. I rather liked it, but there were some parts that made the book seem more like a Naval History story than actual sc-fi. And the Moties were pants at times. Still, it was good.

Halfway down the stairs Is the stair where I sit. There isn't any other stair quite like it. I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top; So this is the stair where I always stop.
