Do you rave?
Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Any techno/trance/jungle/house fans out there?

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I went for Alternative, though the bulk of my music is on the Metal/Alternative border... Tool, Alice in Chains, Metallica, NIN

Yeah, me too. There isn't a genre in which I don't like at least some of the artists. There are some genres with an inordinate amount that I don't like, but that's a different story.

I'd have the same problem with the hundreds of years of Classical, if there was a Classical to vote forVain wrote:My vote went for the ALternative option but it's unfortunately a category so wide that it defies proper description.

My wife is a huge Pumpkins fan (one of the reasons she was looking forward to being near Chicago). Have you heard Corgan and Chamberlain's new band Zwan? The album's not out yet, but they play the single, Honestly, all the time around here.
Speaking of, System of a Down's new album, Steal This Album, should be out pretty soon. looking forward to that.
*gets an idea*

I'm not sporadically blind, right? You just added Classical? Thanks.
And if you ever want to hear a lot of rambling about the various aspects of genius of classical music, I'd be happy to go on and on and on That's what I got my B.A. in. (Classical music, not rambling. Rambling is a natural thing for me that I didn't have to study.)

My fav song on the radio right now, is, without a doubt: Schism by Tool:
I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them fall away
mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing,
pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
the light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
we cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.
I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
no fault, none to blame it doesn't mean I don't desire to
point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication.
The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.
There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the the math enough to know the dangers of a second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication
cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion
between supposed lovers
between supposed brothers.
And I know the pieces fit.
The song just rips me in2...well...pieces!

I would be interested in a classical version of Behind the Music.Fist and Faith wrote: And if you ever want to hear a lot of rambling about the various aspects of genius of classical music, I'd be happy to go on and on and on That's what I got my B.A. in. Lateralus is a work of art, a masterpiece, and Tool is the modern Bach (my all time favorite band, the musical equivalent of the Chrons to me). I just bought it with an x-mas gift card (i know, i know... been out forever. i had a burnt copy, but gave it away a year ago 'cause if any band deserves the royalties...). some day, some day i'll catch them in concert.
classical music is, of course, great. i can't believe i left it out of the poll at first. my problem concerning classical is that it's so hard to... get introduced to it, i guess. please, ramble til your heart's content.

I'm with you Damelon, grew up on 70's rock, my favorite band was Kansas.
Today it really depends on my mood, so it's hard to choose one category to vote for, but I think my vote would go for Jazz/fusion if there was a category for that. I like Pat Metheny, Spyro Gyra, Oregon...
