I have been gone for a long time, but with the release of his new book, I can't stay away. Especially since I read the book in the very first sitting without even stopping. Now I have 2-3 years to wait! My fault.
I thought the first book is basically a 500 page introduction to the next three books in the series. I fully expect those three to be even more massive and absolutely full of shocks as SRD is well known for. He went over all the previous books in parts while intermingling them with elements of a new storyline. The first half of the book read a little slow..but that was mostly when he was rehashing the other books. Afer the halfway point, I started flipping pages as fast as i could read. Great stuff. And about the very last line in the book. @#@#@#$#%^$%#
Just my thoughts on the new book...

Just my thoughts on the new book...
It is better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

The wait after each book is published is going to be obscene!
I've been on the Tolkien newsgroups for 6 years now and everything is right there in front of you.
No new material.
Which gets a little boring after a while.
But for the first few months or years after you discover the Groups, when you read how others have analysed, researched and compare his writings to notes and letters Tolkien had written after publication it was a wonderland of new thoughts and ideas.
Luckily I have yet to even look at the other group topics we have here so I'll hopefully have enough stuff to sustain me through the lean times
