Truth To Tell
When I tell her the truth
I'll be calm and reasonable - and maybe a bit detached.
She'll listen, and then analyze my words discreetly -
Apply logic and make a considered response,
And we'll have a civilised conversation.
When I tell her the truth
It wll be in anger, free of all restraint.
Our words will blaze like fire and passion,
Burning with the raw flame of naked candor
Till only ash remains.
When I tell her the truth
I'll say it flippantly, as if joking,
And I'll watch from the corner of my eye for her reaction.
She'll see me watching,and know my true intention,
But we'll both laugh wittily, mocking our emotions.
If I tell her the truth
I'll hide it in careful lies.
All masters of fiction will envy my practised skills.
She'll believe the truth - as I present it to her;
I'll almost deceive myself.
But when she tells me the truth
She'll do so without speaking a word.
She'll avoid my look, as if our gazes were polarised;
My body will forget her touch.
A thousand words, unspoken, will echo in a crashing silence.
I will be voiceless, and alone.
When I tell her the truth
I'll be calm and reasonable - and maybe a bit detached.
She'll listen, and then analyze my words discreetly -
Apply logic and make a considered response,
And we'll have a civilised conversation.
