Favorite lines from Runes

Post by Kinslaughterer »

Do you, and if so what, have a favorite line, conversation, or passage from Runes?
My favorite is:
A muted thudding accompanied it, a sound like the distant drumming which heralded the collapse of worlds
For whatever reason I just absolutely love that little line. I feel like I've heard that sound before somewhere in the past.....
"We do not follow maps to buried treasure, and remember:X never, ever, marks the spot."
- Professor Henry Jones Jr.

"Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet."

Hey KinKiller.

When I read that line, I'm reminded of the war drums at Mount Thunder in LFB. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

That is indeed a good line from Esmer.

"I am content" is the line that had the most effect on me.

That was Foul, yes?
Ah, he seems so much more... sane, this time round. Both encounters with him in Runes, he makes a much bigger impact, despite the fact that he isn't showing anywhere near as much hatred, and rage. He has finally found a way to execute his plans almost flawlessly, and he is, indeed, content.

Welcome Esmerlover!

Your sig line (a quote from Esmer) reminds me a LOT of Elena's words in TIW:

"Defend yourself! I seek to destroy you!"

Excerpt from Animal Songs Never Written
"Hey, dad," croaked the vulture, "what are you eating?"
"Carrion, my wayward son."
"Will there be pieces when you are done?"

Hello nice people! Mine is (I even freaking underlined a word in the book...I'm addicted!)

from while the Ramen are still rude and totally distrusting of the Hurachai/Bloodguard/Masters/

Sleepless ones....

As though he had been challenged, Stave stepped forward, (here's my part)

"claimed" one of the berries(aliantha), and chewed it stolidly

I knew he was "human" then....or at least as human as Bannor had ever been...

Shades of evening still held the sky, but night now filled the rift, welling up from the memories of the rubble; flowing downward from the dark past of the ur-viles. And with it came the ice-sharp wind which Manethrall Hami had promised. Cold soughed and hissed in the background of Stave's words.

Yet he was not chilled. His people made their home among the ice and snows of the Westron Mountains. The passion in his veins gave him all the warmth he required.
All lies and jest
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest
-Paul Simon

"Are you mad as well? This is hurtloam I tell you."

I just thought it summarised Foul's exasperation with people in this really remarkably funny way.

"We are the Haruchai. We have no need of horesrites." (probably a paraphrase?)
Ah all the ignorance, arrogance, and not to mention COOLNESS, of the Bloodguard summed up in one sentece from Stave. Good stuff.
