Bah!

Hey, they made it up as they went. Literally! Half way through it, they didn't know how they were going to end it!

Something with such staggering impact to any DC comic ever printed after it, and even they weren't taking it seriously.

Double bah!

Crisis still rates as one of the best stories ever published by DC, even if it was a little "seat of the pants" at times.

Well it had just about everyone in it, which is always good.
And it did try to wrap it all up pretty well.
And it was the last hurrah as far as fun fantasy DC comics went, imho.
After that Comics in general took a downward spiral and tried to be more "real" and "mature".

Sorry, I'm one of those "old" [38] fogeys that complains about how comics are not for kids anymore.

Heh. I'm 40, and pretty darned happy they're not for kids.

But perhaps the biggest sin of Crisis was killing off the original Huntress!

Inexcusable!!!!

Still, I suppose it was cool seeing whose hand it was that Krona saw all those billions of years ago.

Yeah, except when you have kids and you want them to get into comics.
(Believe me, I really liked the violence and the breast "explosions" of the '90s)
When I was 8 or 9 the comics were pretty much self contained.
You were introduced to the characters each time and what had gone on before was quickly explained.
Spiderman fought the Lizard or the Sandman.
Superman beat the bad guy by throwing a baseball around the world and knocked him out on the back of the head.
Simple and fun stuff.
Now you need a pysch background and 30 back issues to know what's going on.
And sales aren't what they used to be so I know I'm not alone.
And yes I know that there are some old style for kids.
Like Marvel Age? I looked at the Spider and FF ones the other day and was impressed.

Anyway, wrong forum!
Although, I wonder how I'd feel about the CoTC graphic novel?
Of course it would depend on the artist but I wonder if it would ruin the books for me.
It can be done.
I absolutely love a Hobbit graphic novel I picked up a few years ago.
It was dead on to the book and extremely well drawn.

I always thought Steve Ditko could do an excellent CoTC graphic novel. He's an excellent story-teller and draftsman, and he'd actually have to lighten up to do it.

I'd take George Perez over anyone else any day, except for maybe Curt Swan (is he still alive even?)

Perez' art just seems to pretty and happy. He just doesn't do shabbiness well.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to veto Ditko too. And your suggesting him truly proves the saying Different strokes for different folks. My introduction to Ditko was Starman. The alien one. The first time I saw him was in DC Presents, when Starlin had Superman and him fighting Mongul. (Fantastic issue, and also my introduction to Mongul.) So I ordered some back issues of whichever showcase-type comic introduced him years earlier. I was not happy when I saw Ditko's rendition of him. (Mind you, Ditko isn't too upset that I don't like him.

)

You know who does shabbiness well? Dave Mazzuchelli. DD's Born Again is, imo, extraordinary. Miller took DD to some serious depths, and Mazzuchelli matched it beautifully. Surely he could do the same for TCTC. And I loved his fights. They don't show the flow from moment to moment the way some artists do, but there's a power to them that I think would work nicely for the Haruchai.

But I'd hate to see how badly they'd have to mangle TCTC to fit it into a graphic novel!

Maybe it could be a graphic novel mini-series?

Okay, how about Steranko? His artwork is appropriate, AND, if anyone could handle the scripting chores, it would be him. ("Red Tide" should give give some flavor to the uninformed.)

And yeah, it would have to be a series of graphic novels.

Never really been a Ditko fan myself. Personally I think the man for the job would be Berni Wrightson - or possibly Richard Corben.

Put me down for Alan Moore.
I loved his work on Supreme.
I can really see him taking on the whole scope of the Chronicles and doing it well.
