A Man For All Seasons

Post by Lord Mhoram »

This is a play written by Robert Bolt about Sir Thomas More, English lawyer, philosopher, humanist, Lord Chancellor, eventual martyr and later a Catholic Saint.

It is an examination of More's life. He gets most of the great lines, with characters like Henry VIII, Cromwell, and Cardinal Wolsey as pretty static characters...Still, a great great read.

"A Man For All Seasons" is one of the most brilliant plays I have ever read. I highly recommend it.

The play has been, of course, adapted into a famous Oscar-winning movie with Paul Scofield as Sir Thomas.
