How did the Words of Power work in TWL?

Post by Borillar »

Apologies if this question has been previously asked, but it's made pretty clear in The Wounded Land that Kevin's Lore is essentially a dead letter, i.e. has no use under the Sunbane. So how is it, then, that Covenant is able to use some of the Seven Words to stop the firespout that springs up when they're in the Sarangrave? Is it because the Sunbane is weaker there, so the Earthpower is still vital?

The sunbane was corrupted earthpower so it was still there and could still be used if you knew how, but only covenants knew as the clave had taken over the council.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

That's what I think happened.
At first I thought the Sarengrave was Sunbane free but my error was pointed out to me on another thread.
It was weaker though the farther away they got.
Seareach, was Sunbane free, maybe they were close enough to it.
There's Earthpower outside of the Land it's just that in the Land it was much more easy to manipulate.
But Kevin's Lore is just a tool to manipulate Earthpower much like Pitchwife does when he makes his pitch (I forget what it's called to fix stone)
Anyway, when TC speaks those words weilding the Krill against the Lurker it's one of my favorite scenes!

If the Krill is a weapon/creation of Law that focus' power in some way and it was infused/powered up with Wild Magic back in tIW I can see how the Krill would make the speaking of the Words of Power effective even under the Sunbane.
This Wild Magic stuff seems pretty.........magical. ;)
