Am I the only one who thought that they had already read this when it was called "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn"? I had high hopes for Shadowmarch but I barely managed 100 pages before I gave up on it.
It seems as if he created a new world and came up with some intriguing ideas (the Shadowline, etc.), then recycled a bunch of stuff from the MS&T trilogy: the elf-like people who hate humans (Sithi/Norns = Qar), the moody crippled prince (Josua = Brinn or whatever his name is), the humanoid "little people" who live underground (Qanuc trolls = funderlings).
::sigh:: I was excited to see Williams returning to straight epic fantasy since I didn't care for Otherland or War of the Flowers myself, so it's a shame that Shadowmarch seems to have fallen a little flat.
