Salvatore

Post by Fist and Faith »

A couple of people have told me about Salvatore's Forgotten Realms books. The couple of things they've told me make it sound fairly interesting. But these two people aren't TCTC fanatics. I was wondering if any of you, who I obviously have some important common-ground with, can give me an opinion.

A friend of mine happened to love Salvatore's books. She was a cheerleader and homecoming queen...adds up, yes. But she did pull one over on me when she read Game of Thrones!

It has been a long time since I read any book by Salvatore, but I seem to remember them as "okay" but nothing spectacular.

Some people I know like Salvatore a lot, especially AD&D players of course, but basically he kind of lacks substance. Sometimes that is ok, sometimes not.

Drizzt Do'Urden is a bad-azz motha-f*, but yeah, D&D style. Fun, but no substance.

One question: did Salvatore invent the drow race? I wonder where they originated from...

Everything in the books is based on the AD&D universe called Forgotten Realms. I do not know who invented the drow there, but it was not him.

TSR? Now owned by Wizards of the Coast. Heh, anyone ever think of a Chronicles of Thomas Covenant: The Collectible Card Game? *Sigh* I miss the old days of Magic, the Gathering.

As Janice would say,
OH!
MY!
GOD!

I freakin' LOVE the idea of TC cards!! ROFL!! It's all I can do to not buy tons of Magic, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I have to restrain myself somewhere, and cards has to be it. But I'd be all over TC cards!! It doesn't even have to be a game - just plain collecting is fine with me. I shudder to think of how much I'd be willing to pay for an ak-Haru Kenaustin Ardenol card! 8O :Help: The White Gold Ring card would be cool to. And Amok and Nom and Foamfollower and Mhoram!!!! Oh this is killing me!!!

Well it is a game world developed by the TSR company and I guess that the drow would first have appeared in the game books for the AD&D system. But if you are looking for the specific man/woman to think of them I do not know and quite frankly that requires a lot more research for me to find than I am willing to do just to answer your question here.

Heh, yeah, I love Collectible Card Games too. I used to be a huge Magic player. But yeah, I made a few Thomas Covenant CCG cards here on the Watch for fun. Maybe someday I'll make some more...-jay
