The Claw of the Conciliator has been found....

...and it's apparently in my wife's new computer. ;)

I just built a new computer for her and the power LED on the front is a brilliant sapphire blue when lit up. It's almost as bright as a night-light in the dark, so I can see my way to the bathroom (which is across the hall from the computer room), a la Severian using the Claw to light his way in the darkness of the mines.

I wonder if this means her computer will be safe from viruses and spyware now? Perhaps if the hard drive dies, it'll be resurrected. :P

Well, y'know, the Claw's just a symbol. For any miracles, the power has to come from within. Heh. I guess that makes you the Increate.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Heh. Somehow, I think the Increate wouldn't have had as much trouble with this computer as I did. ;)

Thankfully, once I sorted out the initial problems with getting it to work in the first place, it's been running flawlessly.
