If only Jeremiah had one of these...

The Land would be in a lot less danger if Jeremiah's toy race car had been made out of white gold. It's too bad that Linden has such a crappy job and can't afford to buy it for him.

Are we sure that she brought back Covenant? Here's my prediction for what happens next: Covenant doesn't take much of an interest in defending the Land. Linden is confused: The Thomas Covenant she loved did have a shambling, robotic walk. But he was compassionate and self-sacrificing, and didn't go ...

Here's my take on the EarthBlood detour: The real purpose was to make sure that Linden got the "darkness in her heart"; the feeling of betrayal and the lust for revenge. The Harrow tells us that this will be important later on...he names it as one of the three things he wants from Linden, ...

Well, there's a continuum between completely factual and completely mythical. It's conceivable that the Worm is like Santa Claus...it doesn't exist as a physical being, it's just a metaphor for the desire-to-destroy-the-world that exists in everyone's hearts. But I don't think the text supports that...

If the Elohim are the remnants of devoured stars, then they've already passed through the Worm's digestive tract once. So I hope the Worm doesn't eat them; that would be gross! As to reconciling the creation myths...assuming they're both based in fact, I've only been able to come up with two reading...

So, skipping ahead to the first male character who shows sympathy to Covenant...I think the victim will wind up being Foamfollower. In his traumatized state, Foamfollower wouldn't be able to power the boat, so it will drift backwards to Mount Thunder, whereupon Drool's minions would kill Covenant a...

Here's a link to his picture on the paperback edition of "The Illearth War".

Even if Covenant had been gay, I don't think he would have assaulted Triock. He's not the predatory sort of rapist; he attacked Lena only because he was enraged by the sympathy she showed him. Triock was always suspicious of him...which doesn't enrage Covenant because it's the sort of reaction he's ...

I've just been reading "First Among Sequels", the new Jasper Fforde book, and that gave me the solution. The key is realizing that the EarthBlood is a literary device. So any Command that would destroy or neutralize the forces of evil is destined to fail...if it succeeded, then we'd run ou...

About the manacles...I don't think it's Kevin's Dirt, because Esmer is talking like it's something Linden still needs to worry about. Kevin's Dirt has already served it's purpose...if it went away tomorrow, the people of the Land still wouldn't be able to use EarthPower because they've lost all the ...

I'm going to guess that the Viles were under both Mount Thunder and Skyweir...in TIW, it's clear that <i>somebody</i> had been building stairways and audience halls under Skyweir, and now we know that the Viles built "ornate and majestic caverns". The "first to drink of the EarthBlood...

I think I got hooked at the Council of Lords. That was when I first realized what the story was about...I realized that the scene ran parallel to the Council of Elrond from LOTR, but with a twist. ("I can't use it! I'm a leper!" vs. "I will bear the ring, though I do not know the way....

Lytton is suspicious of people who aren't from Earth. Make sure you're playing a human, not an elf or a dwarf.

OK, the "Despiser's Doom" torrent is up.

You can get it from thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3479217

If anyone's not familiar with torrents, the easiest client to use is probably the one at www.utorrent.com/

Here's a story I just found...about an autistic man who's been building complicated structures out of legos. Of course I immediatly thought of Jeremiah, even before I found out that he'd named the structure "Urville". www.boingboing.net/2006/03/27/gilles_trahin_a_sava.html www.wisconsinmed...

The Chronicles of Lord Mhoram

OK, I finally got it figured out. Too much of what happens with Covenant is internal, and subtle. That's fine for books, but it doesn't work in a movie. What would work in the movie is showing the beauty and the horror of the Land...Mount Thunder, Revelstone, the Sarangrave, the epic battles of TIW ...

My theory was that it was a twist on the "original/prototypical" definition. The history of the Land is a history of gradual decay...even when there's forward progress, things are never as good as they used to be. So to the people of the Land, "original/prototypical" means "...
