I agree that most folks either love or hate the series. Friends of mine who usually share the same fantasy tastes as I do actually hate the series, thinking it dull and lifeless. I think some folks want their heroic fantasy to be, well, heroic and fantastic. Having a main character that goes out of ...

I really do hate to ask this but can everyone be sure that was really Donaldson himself? I've followed his work for more than twenty years. I can remember waiting for each new book of the Second Chronicles at the mall's Waldenbooks (before there were B&N superstores). I've read alot of the inter...

An annotated version (at least the type I was talking about) is where the author puts crib notes or footnotes into the margin or after chapters, giving his thoughts on scenes, characters, plotlines, etc... as the story moves along.

Annotated Chronicles

On my most recent trip to Barnes and Noble (great cafe-hope my bosses never figure out where I am), I saw a paperback copy of the Dragonlance Chronicles in an annotated version. That got me to thinking. Not that I want the Man to take time from writing the Third Chronicles, but wouldn't it be great ...

Much thanks for the warm welcome. All this talk about Foul's influence made me wonder just how far back that went. For example, when Foul was part of the council, did he aid the old lords in gaining the level of power they achieved? Which in turn led to Kevin's ability to invoke the Ritual? Which in...

I don't agree that Elena was evil or that she was influenced by Foul directly. I think everyone was indirectly manipulated by Foul and the smart ones knew that. Witness the lords being forced to rescue the staff from Drool. They had no choice but they understood they were aiding Foul just as much as...

Greetings. This is my first time here. A wonderful site, obviously a labor of love. I always looked at the creator as existing beyond the two worlds. He could reach into 'our world' but the Arch prevented him from doing the same in the land. So I think his only role was to choose Covenant. I never t...
