I hear JRR Tolkien did some fantasy series in the 20's and 30's. maybe track that down. ;) Who is this JRR Tolkien you mention, is he new?? Obviously done the Tolkien thing, and without doubt he set the standard. On the fantasy front I will check out Robin Hood, sorry Hobb as I have seen the books f...

Do you find it hard to read...?

Any other author, due to the power of SRD's writing? Myself, I find that I read othet authors, then return to SRD's books just to reconfirm that he is indeed one of the best authors I have read. However... There may be other authors out there I am not doing justice. So, who in the fantasy genre is a...

The Real Story can be extremely disturbing to some readers. (I know that because I found it to be so). I made it through because I had read everything else SRD had written and I trusted him as a writer to find some redemption for at least some of the characters. If I had never read any of his other...

When rereading the books a few years ago, it amazes me how like todays weather climates the books are. Whether this is coincidence or me reading to much into it, but as I look out the window I see myself saying "Hmm today will be a sun of fertility", or "Todays sun is the sun of rain&...

I think neither Lord Foul nor the Creator actually have names. Lord Foul mentions that all his names were given to him by the various people of the Land; my idea is that, as immortal principles of the universe where the Land resides, neither of them actually needed a name, especially if they were t...

Yes indeed Fleshharrower was the ravers name, its been a while since I read the books. (Which reminds me, I must reread them sometime). I also agree that a name like "Sauron" just doesnt cut the mustard. Satansheart Soulcrusher is more along the lines, but ideally suited to the Giants as i...

Maybe its just me, and I should have explained myself a little better. The names you quote there are other characters name for him, but his chosen name and the name SRD uses to describe in narrative is Lord Foul. I sometimes wonder if there would not be a better name for him for description than that.

Lent TRS to my mate.....

He is a 100 pages in and already he is saying it is the sickest book he has ever read. I dont think he can read any more as he has moved onto other books. I keep trying to tell him to stick with it, as it pays off in the end but he is having none of it. Dont know what to suggest to get him back into...

Re: Would you use white gold as your wedding ring

Personally I plan to use white gold as my wedding band if I ever get married. For some reason it now appeals to me more than normal Gold. Does anyone else feel the same? Don't you think that is asking for it? ;) I admit I like the idea of white gold since reading TC some 20 years ago now, luckily I...

Movie music

Anyone have any ideas on this. I for one think the intro should be along the music and rythm of MC Hammer and You can't touch this. Except the lyrics are "Don't touch me"

I been around the land
with just a half hand

oh oh ooh oh oh oohh

Don't touch me
